Hamann and their extreme widebody kits.
I think hamann and acs stopped putting out anything good since the e46.

Can't say that I like either the Hamann or Luma body kit. However the Luma front looks a bit more stylish (and actually resembles the X6M front somewhat). I don't like the front or the flared fenders on the Hamann at all and the fact that Hamann reused the useless running boards!
The Hamann body kit definitely looks bolted on rather than part of the car. Unfortunately, there is no picture of the back of the Hamann to compare it to the Luma. It's funny though that they both decided to stick the fog lights into the upper outer corners of their air inlets on the front bumper!

Which design school ?
Who r the designers working @ Hamann & Lumma & AC Schnitzer et al ?? Which school of design did they come from or follow?
Have their designs been wind tunnel tested?? w/ proven Cd? They've obviously not learned the axiom of design " Less is More". Or they'd rather go w/ the "More is Good, then Plenty More Is Plenty Good" school of design. Hamann looks too much like it's copying Porsche Cayenne's air intake. How original. Street cars do not need wings. If they do they should retract when under street speed limit. Headlite cluster eyebrows look more like eyelids, make the car "look" sleepy. Why are they required when the lights are focused/projector beam already? Please give me a functional or good design reason to trash the perfectly good original factory aerodynamics, other then to line someones pocket! Last edited by archwerks; 05-21-2009 at 12:39 AM.. |

Most wide-body kits are so you can fit wider tires onto a car, not for increased aerodynamics, although some people feel that the aesthetics are quite appealing as well.

I personally like the stance of (much) lowered x6 because IMHO it seems to suit it's overall shape. Wider is cool, too.
The trouble with the kits shown above is that they make them seem cartoonish - maybe that's what the designer want - who knows. To each his own. IMHO, there's a major difference between the Asian and European styling appeal. Most of the Japanese cars I really like seem to have borrowed European styling cues. I don't like the crossover, or overlay, if you will, of the Asian style on a European design. What's confusing are the Asian tuner styling cues coming from German designers - go figure. Being 52 years young, and a fan almost from birth of the European exotics, which tend to carry, sleeker, sensuous lines, it's hard to stomach these additions which don't seem to refine or enhance the already great lines of the x6, but seem more of a distraction. No doubt they'll sell their share of these kits. To each his own and please it was not my intent to offend anyone. |
