IMO, there's never any reason to drive these cars in eco mode.
Agreed. I can only assume the only reason they put it on the car in the first place is for some sort of regulatory points. That would be fitting in a haha sort of way.

I normally love the MPE option but doing the Remus Axle Back when the time comes. Nice sound, bigger tips, and uses the OEM valve system.

Assume you want the valve system. As, interestingly, the M Performance Exhaust is/was an option on the M240i and it does not use the Valve and comes with an item that goes into the valve connector when it is eliminated.

I currently have stock muffler with a double res delete.
I’m tempted to add the M performance exhaust. Will there be much of a difference compared to current set up? And is it worth it?

Did you end up pulling the trigger? Thinking about doing the same

I have the MPE on my 2015 M235. Installed after 30k miles. Just hit 100k miles.
I have experienced zero drone but I also never drive in Eco Pro unless in snowy / icy conditions.
The sound is much raspier and I am glad I bought it when I did. Great mod for the car.

I have read in this thread and other places that the N55 version of the M Performance exhaust has a valve but the B58 version doesn’t. But I have also read that people hear a noticeable difference in sound level between Comfort and Sport modes with that exhaust on the M240i.

Can someone explain that to me? What is responsible for the sound difference if there isn’t a valve?

Thanks in advance.

The PE on my N55 335i had a valve, but I just did the golf tee mod. No valve on my M240i. The noticeable difference between comfort and sport is the pops and burbles, which I think is engine tuning rather than the exhaust itself.

Thank you for the response, that makes sense.

Do you hear much drone when cruising, say at 2,000-3,000 RPM? And is the sound about the same level in Comfort and Sport in those RPM ranges?

I don't do much highway driving so I'm probably not the best positioned to answer this. In my mostly city driving I have not really noticed any drone. I have an auto and usually leave it in Sport so it maintains around 2K RPM most of the time. In Comfort it shifts much earlier and usually maintains around 1K RPM. I expect this also contributes to the perception of sound levels. In Sport+ the shift points are even higher - closer to 3K - but I find that excessive for normal driving so I only use that when I want to play race car, and then I use the paddles anyway.

I never drove an AWD but I presume there is more road noise and potential vibration coming from the drivetrain. My driving is mostly highway on mountain conditions in Sport and there is no drone and neither in Comfort.
