Does anyone else have the little compartment below the headlight dial to the left of the steering wheel?
I was behind the wheel of a 2015 M235i and noticed there was a latch that opened up to reveal the compartment. Got back behind my 2017 M240i and noticed I didn't have this; where it should be, are the two buttons as part of the Driver Assistance package. |

I checked to see if I could fit my new M240 in the storm shelter but alas, it does not fit. Hope the tornados tomorrow don't take her away from me, she would be hard to replace at this point.

The exterior grey mirrors were ugly, couldn't stand them anymore...
I changed them as well as the blinkers for a nicer look: |

Got this done, I figured I took too much weight out of the car, time to put some back

I’ve had a flurry of activity on my car in the first month of ownership. 2nd day home, I see a dent in my front driver’s side fender. Not sure where I picked it up. Had a PDR done.
2 weeks in, I bent 2 of my wheels. I was going around a corner and somehow got the right side got off the road slightly, boom! Flat tire. I tried to have them repaired but they were too far gone. 1 week later, I have a set of OZ Leggera HLT 18x8 wheels with Michelin AS4s on. I was planning on a set of custom signature wheels but I couldn’t wait so I went ahead and got these. I like them but I’m almost thinking I should have gotten 19s because the 18’s look small. Maybe it’s because the Michelins look taller than the Pirellis that were on there. The side benefit of no RF is that the ride is so much smoother and the Michelins are so much quieter than the Pirellis. Today I ordered Dinan Springs and the bump stops. Dinan says they’ll ship next week so I’ll have my car lowered in a couple of weeks. Hopefully this car isn’t cursed! |

Got a few more stuff done to the 2 series:
Custom exhaust flap remote control and the exhaust. Everything is still work in progress.

...sounds like a good argument for staying with 18” wheels and NRF tires and stock ride height. |

LOL! Never. I’m used to lowered cars. And the Dinan setup is only moderately lowered, so not much at all. I’ve read that they are only slightly more firm than the factory springs. Most of my cars that I’ve owned have been lowered somewhat. I go for mostly mild drops.

Drove it home for the first time. Not quite the same feeling as upgrading to your first BMW but still pretty excited.
Scored a hard to find manual 240i. Not sold on the fake M stuff everywhere, but whatever, that's how the brand goes. |

I found that the fake M stuff receded into the background after a while. I initially thought about removing all of it and then decided it wasn't going to be worth the trouble. The only time I notice it now is when I'm handling the BMW 436M wheels during seasonal changeovers.

Received my LED backup lights (exact ones the OP used) and installed them with no issues. Used Bimmercode to set them to LED in the rear lighting ECU. DIY thread https://www.2addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=1568480

Had a chat yesterday with my SA at the dealer about the N20 engine. He said they have had timing chain failures in their shop and done engine replacements (for about $15k!!), but never one lower than 80k miles. Also, the ones with problems were more often with owners who had neglected oil change maintenance. With just 18K after almost 7 years and rigorous adherence to annual changes, he suggested I stop worrying about it but offered to have the tech listen and check it out in May's oil change coming up.

Tried to remove those ugly seat belt warning labels on the sun visors and failed. Removed the visor and had it on the work bench. Applied enough heat to burn my fingers and nothing peeled up except the very edge. I think these are painted on and not a label anymore.
