Squared Set-up
Wheel & Tire fitment question for a M240 xDrive.
I'm looking at 18x8.5 wheels and 245/35 tires, squared. Pilot 4S What offset do I need without rubbing on stock suspension? ET35 or ET45? |

Excellent question. I want to do the same and after many hours of searching these forums I have yet to come up with a concise answer. Fingers crossed though.

Thanks, I have seen that. That only tells me that Apex does not make any wheels in a size that will work without other mods. So ET35 and ET45 are definitely out, but lots of other manufacturers make wheels in other offsets, so I'd be happy to hear about some that do work.

I'm running Niche wheels, 19x8.5 et35's (235's square) on stock height with no rubbing at all. ET 35 is going to be closest to flush/poke I would go, if I did it over again I'd look at et38 or et40 wheels.
Running 245s in front you will probably need a few degrees of camber but I can't speak from experience since I've only tried 235's. |

I went with 245's square.
Ended up going with 18 X 8 et 40 Fast FC04 wheels with MPS4S 245/35/18. Not sure what the results would be with another .5 width on the wheels, but have not rubbed, took it to AutoX as well. https://www.2addicts.com/forums/show...5&postcount=14 |

https://www.2addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=1718540 He's running 18x8.5 et38 apex arc8 with 245/35 mp4ss with dinan lowering springs w/xdrive. This is pretty much the same set up I want to do but coilovers instead of dinan springs. |

Here are some more;
https://www.2addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=1370118 https://www.2addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=1602402 These ones make me think 18x8.0 ET40 should work best, even if they are a bit narrow for 245s. https://www.2addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=1602402 https://www.2addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=1804723 What I would really like to hear is what actually works for other people running 245/35 square on a completely stock car (and on xDrive as well in my case), not "this works with my lowered springs/camber plates/rolled fenders" - that is nice but of little use to the majority of owners. There should be a sticky thread here for wheel & tire fitments that actually work on a stock car. I expect it would be an exceptionally short thread, but incredibly useful nonetheless. |

I've spent countless hours trolling the forums to try and find a square setup that works for more than just one person. Seems like everyone has something unique that makes it work for them, or someone running all stock suspension says a setup works for them, but no one else. So frustrating. At this point I am willing to shell out some decent dough to get a custom set of wheels if it means I can run a square setup on a stock car. Just tell me the dang specs that are GUARANTEED to work! |

That said, similar to what you are saying I spent hours doing research, talking to wheel shops and talking to other owners. tires can matter I was running the exact same setup as another 2er, I'm on Goodyears, they are on Michelins and they rubbed same spec. I'm about to go with coilovers and camberplates so I can have a few degrees of camber to play with when I go back to a staggered setup. |

The issue is the front axle and trying to find the right offset to clear when running an 18X8.5 with a 245/35R18 tire. It's a stroke of luck if you can make it work without a spacer or trimming/rolling fender parts.
I'm running 18X8 et43 with 245/35R18 MPS4S tires. I ran the setup with stock springs in the front and Dinan springs in the back with a 5mm lift spacer for about 3 years. I then put the Dinan springs on the front a few months ago. There aren't any clearance issues with either setup. The 245s in the front make a massive difference in front end grip and reduce understeer and tire wear. I have no traction issues out back either with the 245s and the MP LSD with the exception of 1st which is a gear I rarely wind out. The car is making around 380whp/390wtq. https://www.2addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=1370118 (I don't have any pics with Dinan springs in the front yet)

I'm pretty comfortable it should work, but confirmation from an actual user is appreciated. |

Maybe, maybe not. To get it to fit assumes a particular brand of tire and enough camber. It's that extra 1/2" of wheel that can cause the clearance issues in the front.

Perhaps, but keep in mind a 245 section tire mounted on an 8.5" wheel is wider (overall, as a unit), than a 245 mounted on an 8" wheel. This is going to reduce your margin of error equivalently, and a few mm makes a big difference here.
