We recommend hub extenders for spacer setups in between the 5mm and 12mm range as spacers of this width reduce the amount of support given by your OE hubcentric ring. The OE ring typically protrudes ~10mm so a 7mm spacer only leave 3mm of ring to support the wheel and keep it hubcentric. The extender is particularly important when using a 10mm spacer that eliminates the OE ring as the wheel would not be hubcentric at that point. The hub extender isn't an ideal solution, but it does give you more flexibility. A hub extender in your case isn't 100% necessary, but it wouldn't hurt. -Tom

Cross posting from an older Facebook group post that didn't make it to these forums. Here is someone on stock M235i suspension claiming to have no rubbing issues with a 5mm front spacer and 17x9 ARC-8 with 255/40 Falken Azenis RT615K+
I'm hoping to accomplish the same or even avoid the spacer with Michelin Pilot AS4 which I imagine might not run as wide but would appreciate any input. I know the APEX website recommends 12mm minimum front spacer.

That fitment can work with a smaller than 12mm front spacer with the right suspension setup and a tire that doesn't run too wide. Really an 8mm spacer would be most idea for most cases however you would also need hub extenders as there isn't enough lip exposed with the 8mm size. 12mm ensures there's ample clearance and no issues with vibration, but does require added camber. This car below has the following specs:

I know this is an old post, but anyone know how to do this? My arc 8s have like 1mm clearance and removing these would be great as I'm scratching up my barrel every time I take them on and off.

I can not confirm or deny if they would fit with non-OE springs, but I don't think so.

Apex EC7 Anthracite, m235i with Dinan Lowering Springs
Front 19x8.5 et 35, 225/35/19 Rear 19x9.5 et 43, 255/30/19 Toyo Proxes AS Just had these installed today. Absolutely no rubbing anywhere and no spacers needed. The rears have a slight poke which makes it even more aggressive. I am actually thinking that 225/40/19 and 255/35/19 would fit too, to fill in that gap a little more. Oh well! Don't have to deal with fender rolling! |

I have the stock M sport brakes (as opposed to the optional big brake package). While the fitment is tight, I have absolutely no issues with the clearance. So unless something changed throughout the years, I don't think you would have any either provided you carefully mount them to avoid scratching and accept the risk that theres a possibility of debris getting jammed in there and scratching your wheel. Highly recommend!

Today I attempted to have Apex EC-7 E45 18x8.5 mounted on my 2017 M240i, with 5mm spacers in the front. The tolerance with the shock was very very tight, even without a tire mounted.
Has anyone else experienced this? Best to my knowledge the suspension is all stock, with the blue M brake calipers. Will the EC35s give me more clearance? 10mm maybe? I tried to do my homework but I guess I got greedy.

I have the same wheels on the way and I was planning on doing the exact same set-up with 245/35 Michelin PS4S. However, I'll be on KW V2's. I didn't want to add camber plates but now it sounds like they may be necessary. |

The 18x8.5" ET45 with a 5mm spacer allows you to have a bit more outer fender clearance compared to the 18x8.5" ET35 or ET38. With that said, we have seen plenty of customers run a 18x8.5" ET45 with a 5mm spacer and 235/40-18 tires on F22s with stock suspension without any inner clearance issues. yes, the inner strut/tire clearance will be tight, but as long as you have 2-3mm you will be in good standing. -Geirsen

The shop has both 235/40-18 and 225/40-18s in stock....would the 225s be "safer"? I'm kind of new to this....
