But the 135 had turbocharging so not sure how this is the end of the era. Electric steering doesn't have to be a bad think. They messed it up in the f30 but maybe they will get it right in this model. If GM can get it right in the ATS then BMW should be able to make it work.

Yup, the 135/335 are more of the start of the era.

Whatever I said. I don't want to go off-topic, just regarding the engines, that this M235i/M2 are the be the last I6 powered small coupé. Next generation will not have more than 4 cylinder. I6 will be reserved for M3/M4 only, unless there will be a next generation of 335i/435i.

We'll have to talk with our money so that next 2 Series should remain RWD, and not FWD.

People are adverse to change, especially if they own an outgoing model, so don't get too upset at people's comments. Here is how a typical BMW new product release goes on most forums...

Rumors - Oh man, this thing is going to be great, but I just bought my (insert previous model here)
Spy Pics - Oh man, this thing looks so ugly and is so much uglier that my (insert previous model of whatever the spy pics are of)
Official Pics - Looks nice, but is still way less awesome than my (insert previous model of whatever the official pics are of), I got the last TRUE BMW EVAR!
Official Release - Looks a lot better than I thought it would, I might consider upgrading when my lease is up
Official Reviews - Wow, this new model is so amazing, all of the reviewers love it, I'm definitely getting one when my lease is up

I agree with you, the M135i has returned RAVE reviews, the M235i will be the same car underneath with different clothing. Hope they make an M235i Gran Coupe, could quite possibly be my next BMW if I don't buy a BMW SAV/SAC instead.

I hope BMW decides to make an M2! Never say never naysayers! I will definitely buy one. Plus it would be good homage to my current 135i if I traded her in or sold her for an M2

I think the AWD's have been expected all along on this site, given Jason's very early posting on what cars BMW was testing.

These teaser videos are always bad - but at least we know for sure that the 25th is the date we will finally see the car

I also hope that they use a different color than red - but that seems to be the color of choice

I wish I was wrong, but I think you (and I) will be disappointed. From what I heard is that there is no 2er GranCoupé to come that soon. The 2er GranCoupé is to come based on the new FWD UKL platform, underpinning the 2er ActiveTourer (MPV), directly rivalling the Mercedes CLA as a 4 door A Class "Coupé". So no RWD 2er GranCoupé based on F22. Hope it won't turn this way, but I wouldn't have high expectations. As the whole F platforms are to be replaced either by the new ULK platform for the lower models and the G platform for the models starting by 3er and beyond, I would not expect any further development on F platform. BMW X4 and X6 are the last new models to come on the F platform. The next 7er G11 will start the new era. The Z4 will not be built on the current F platform, but a on a new sports platform co-developed with Toyota.

Shucks! I hope they change their mind, next 2er platform is at least 5 years out? More? Until then low-end luxury buyers will be buying the heck out of the cheap CLA and A3 sedan.

I guess only time will tell, I'm not due for another car until 2018, was hoping to find an off-lease (36 month old) 2015 M235i GC somewhere early 2018.

I guess that pushes me towards spending more cash on my ZHP (always planned to keep it) and finding a nice CPO SAV(x3)/SAC(x4) in 2018 for a DD.

Haha, thanks! I've used this observation a few times now, f30, f32, f10, etc. I should save it somewhere on my computer to copy and paste more easily. I think I said it better before, but don't quite remember how I worded it. Sometimes I find it comical, other times I find it frustrating. With most things in life, I try to keep an open mind and welcome change as change = progress (most of the time).

And why do you believe him? I'm pretty sure there will be one, since Scott mentioned it and there is a Mercedes and Audi competitor on the market. I also can't say that for sure, but I think there's definitely a market for one and BMW (should) know that.
I am waitin' for the M2 Gran Coupé, and I believe there will be a 2 series Gran Coupé and a M2 and M2 GC. The M2 is a must, since there was a very successful 1M. It would be absolutely unlogical when the M235i would be the top-model of the 2 series.

FWD will come for 1 series generation after the current one (F2X), and we don't know yet what will happen to the next 2 series after the current one (F2X). Maybe it will be based on the 1 series platform like the current one and go FWD, or it will be based on the 3 series platform and go RWD.
