The light phenomenon came from 2 big sensors under HAM's car . The sensors stored porpoising data and the distance from the floor to the asphalt . Mercedes stored the porpoising correlation between speed and the ride hight to the asphalt . HAM got one sensor under the front wing , and one sensor on the side of the floor .

Yeah insane isn't it? I would think it's from the wiring and control boxes that aren't shown.

What is weird...Ferrari seemed to be porpoising more than ever in Australia and they were blitzing the field. Merc definitely decreased their porpoising by a substantial amount and were still 1sec+ off Ferrari's race pace. Merc has other deficiencies in the car.

1) Mercedes were porpoising exactly at the speeds they were cornering at, this caused cornering instability so they had to raise ride height to stop the porposing in the corners and limit it to the straights. This stopped porposing in the corners which allowed the car to corner without instability but the increased ride height robs them of down force decreasing cornering speeds. This is a double whammy because they porpoise exactly at the cornerning speeds they need. 2) Ferrari porpoises, but the speeds their car does it at is above the peak cornering speeds that their car can do, so they are fine in the corners. This means they mostly porpoise on the straights which is fine so long as their drivers can handle it. Thus they do not need to raise ride height as long as their drivers can handle it, and this means no down force is lost in the corners. So the higher the threshhold speed is for porposing the better off your car is, and that also means you can trade it in for a lower ride height. With lowering of the ride height decreasing the speed that porposing occurs at (because it makes it easier for the underfloor to stall). So if your car has a super high porpoising speed you can run really low. For merc their porpoising is so bad they have to run really high, and if they solve that they will get alot of performance back. For ferrari it wouldn't bring much performance back because they can already run at the optimal ride height - but it would bring driver comfort and thus consistency.

Just heard that Audi want to take control of an F1 team, they are not content to just playing a supporting role from '26 with it's own PU.

I wonder who they will buy. Haas or williams are potential candidates. Maybe even aston if lawrence looses hope.

I was wondering:
Has any of you heard of a protest that Alpine filed against Haas (before this race) about that certain parts on the Haas looked too much like Ferrari parts and that Haas had to change them? And that arguably the Haas cars werent as fast as previous races? I think I heard that on dutch tv by one of the commenters (ex F1 driver), but I can't find anything of this online. I know Haas has very close collaberation with Ferrari, and the FIA has a list of parts that can be shared, but these were apparently aero parts. Maybe not 100% the same but too much the same? It's unclear to me

But mclaren doesn't want to lose any control so I don't think that will work out well.
