I spoke with Rogue today regarding what would be needed for another group buy. They said minimum 10 orders to make it worth it.
Please send me a PM if you are interested in getting another group buy going (aka, you're interested in buying one of these SSKs). I know it will take a bit to put together but I'm bummed I missed out on this (I actually bought my car just after all this went through). |

I just installed the short shifter and transmission mounts on my M235i. It went pretty smoothly, although that internal rubber boot is a pain. I managed to do it without removing any exhaust hangers (other than the hanger on the transmission mount).
Does anyone using the short shifter have the M Performance knob and alcantara boot? With there being less slack in the boot, the base plate for the boot pops out whenever I shift into Reverse. I figured I would see if anyone had a fix before seeing what I can do to free up some slack in the boot. Other than that, the shifts are MUCH shorter and more direct!

To add to what K8 said and add a suggestion. Try your new ssk with the oem knob, if you still have it. I had the M Perf "short" knob+ Rogue SSK and I found that the OEM knob was best performer for everyday driving. Call me crazy but the shorter m perf. knob seemed to require more force. I assume that is due to it being physically shorter hence you have less leverage vs the longer stock one??

I was going to swap back to the factory knob to see if it had the same issue, but I like the M Performance knob and boot a lot!

No worries! I appreciate input from others with the same product. I have a few things I'm going to try to correct it this weekend.

So my car is at a trusted BMW shop in Massachusetts right now having this installed. They just called and said there's a problem:
The entire shifter is leaning to the upper right in a way they say can't possibly be right, and is popping out the stock shifter boot out in 5th gear. They suspect the wrong part was provided for the M240i that I have and requested, and are reaching out to Rogue now... Any ideas? |

Rogue advised the shop to attempt to bend the carrier into a better position. They attempted with their press said it wouldn't budge, as it's a solid steel part that would require a very precise bend under extreme force. They don't want to torch it and have it become unusable or lose rigidity as well. Waiting to hear back from Rogue on this. tl;dr: sounds like multiple of these are defective, and anyone who hasn't yet installed should approach with caution. |

@sauceonside Which shop did you go to in mass? I'm in Boston.
This is the first time I've heard of an issue with 20+ kits. Rogue stands by their products and will take care of you.

Ahh, the joys of aftermarket parts. Stuff rarely fits right. I have read about fitment issues and excessive NVH with these shifters on the M2 forums.

Unfortunate...mine went in easily and seems to spec in all ways. No issues.

The Rogue shifters are designed to be just like an oem shifter construction wise. They shouldn't add any significant nvh if everything is done correctly. One main cause of nvh with bmw shifters regardless if stock or aftermarket is over tightening the trans mounts. They don't need much at all.

I was on the first batch of these SSKs for the M240i - my shifter installed like it was there from factory, zero forcing or other issues, basically remove stock shifter and replace with the Rogue engineering shifter, it shifts smoothly and accurately. I am sure Rogue will sort it out as they are a quality operation.

Anyone install without issue from this recent batch? Was planning to bring to my mechanic this weekend and don't want to waste their time.

I'm in communication with Rogue to see if they know what it could be. I wanted to confirm the correct orientation of the s bend in the lever arm, and exhaust all possible options before chalking it up to manufacturer defect. Even if that happens to be the case, that's the risk we run on custom products like this and I'm sure they'll make it right if it comes down to that!

This is quite the turn out of events.. You guys are all sure the shops are using all the new parts from Rogue right? They gave you back your old carrier and shifters?
Just throwing it out there as I know anything is possible. I wouldn't put it past a shop to just throw in the new shifter into an old carrier to save time because they look the same...Anyway, it would be a good idea to have them make sure the locking cup is correctly seated too. I have had zero issues with fitment or function either but the location does move slightly vs stock resting location. If I remember right, it serves as en ergonomic placement.
