Mine arrived yesterday and first thing I gotta say is they are very light! I belive 18lbs.. but they feel very light. Unfortunately it maybe a couple more weeks before I mount them. I have alot work being done on my car to include coil overs stud kit, and some engine goodies. Car is in the shop atm. For now they sit in my garage and I'm going to start researching which tire size I want to run.. I have the RE71r staggered on my current wheels and absolutely love them. So I'll prob go same brand but square ofcourse. End goal is track focused car.

ETA for my Wheel set is early next week, I was hoping to get them no later than this Saturday so that I could mount them this weekend but shipping took a little longer than expected. I already have a set of 235/40r18 Pontenza S007A tires, a 75mm stud kit, and a set of 3 & 5 mm spacers to play with the final ET. Last edited by Devil doc; 06-12-2020 at 08:07 PM.. |

I bought apex spacers. I’m going to run 235/40s square for 3 reasons... 1) I got a REALLY good deal on them 2) I wanted a slightly taller tire (a little more comfortable in the road). 3) it’s still a simple square set up that can be easily rotated for Xdrive cars. When the 235/40s are done, I will likely replace them with a set of 245/35/18 Michelin PS4S (lightest option) or the wider 255/35/18 Michelin PS4S (slightly taller/heavier option). More likely than not, I’ll only run a 3mm front spacer, I’m targeting a flush/square tire look, plus I wanted the tire as centered as possible within the available space space, thus minimizing the rubbing issues down the line. Initially, I planned on running a square 18x9s set up, and while it’s entirely possible, it required more work than I wanted to deal with. The 18x8.5s with a higher et is just an easier solution for our cars, and it still allows you to run a square 245/35-255/35 set up. In your case, the smaller 245/35/18 will probably be a good choice for your requirements. The combination of extra width and low overall height will be hard to beat, also there’s a few cars in this forum running that combination so it shouldn’t be hard to find pictures of it. I am also x-drive. So I'm curious why would you choose the heavier larger option of a 255/35 vice the 245/45 or even a 245/35? Is it solely for comfort? Heavier/wider makes the car feel not as agile?? What about a 235/40 square verse the 245/35? will the car be faster around the turns on a 245/35 with it being a wider tire? Still learning... Ive had really good experience with 235/40 up front but if 245/35 is better performance while not sacrificing agility then I think I should give that a go. |

Lots of people use the 235/40 because it’s a tried and true combination, some guys that track theirs cars run the slightly wider 245/35 or 255/35 tire since they’re looking for the most amount of front end grip posible. |

This is with Apex EC-7 - 18x8.5+45
Tires are 235/40/18 (R-S4) square. Suspension is stock except for some camber bushings in the front (-1.8). 5mm spacer in the front. |

Are you running any spacers in the back? Also how are you liking the camber bushings ? (I’ve heard they can push the front wheel out a few millimeters, did you notice that? ) |

No spacers in the back at all.
I think the bushings did push the bottom of the wheel out a bit. I really like them, they even improved the steering feel. They are the K-MAC ones. Next step is probably replacing some more bushings, and then more suspension work next year. |

I was only willing to get either RE71r or Advan A052 tires. Between them the only sizes that they had that made sense were 245/40 or 235/40. I choose the Advan 235/40 for better turn in and steering feel. They are also 1lbs lighter. I'm sure there gonna be great for the turns but I would have def did RE71r again because I loved them. But wanted to try somthing new. I plan ordered future concept 5mm wheel spacers for the front from IND. Couple reasons. Why I choose this space. 1. In the past I had some noise from burger spacers on dif wheel setup and it was annoying soni removed them. The future concept mount to the rotors so they cant move. This should be a solid design. 2. IND offered to sell me just the spacers with out the lug nuts at a lower price and that's worked for me since I am going to use stud conversion on the car. My only desicion now is if I want to run my OEM TPMS in the new wheels or leave them in old wheels as a back up set.. If I used the titan stems and didnt have the tpms on the car, should this throw codes or be problematic in any way? |
