I tend to keep cars until about 10yrs of age and unload them. Will have to see how this one does. I picked up a 1 owner 2015 m235i with under 35k on the clock at 4 years old I guess that time will tell

I once stopped to test drive a car on my way home from taking delivery of a brand new car. That's probably not healthy.

I laughed at this...I am not one to keep a car long but I have never stopped to look on way home from buying one ! But I owned 3 different cars last year as my 3rd car fun car. Miata convertible, Cadillac atsV and this M235i. I still have the BMW it may be a keeper. For me that is about 1-2 years.

Same here. I cram my trunk and the backseat area completely full with gear when I'm going to the track. I wouldn't like having less space back there.

Besides, I've reached the age where this car's fuel tank size and my bladder's capacity are pretty much equal.

I planned for a long time before deciding on this car, maybe a year in total. I wanted a new-ish, sporty, and preferably RWD 2+2 that I could daily drive but also do occasional motorsport stuff with, especially AutoX and HPDE's. I test drove some very interesting cars - Mustangs, Camaros, GT86's, Golf variants, Focus/Fiesta ST's, etc and researched pretty standard mods for each.

Eventually I decided on a 2 series. The track handling package was a must, and I hate sunroofs and luxury packages that just add bloat...that's a weird combination for a luxury car and I had a hard time finding a lightly used CPO example in that spec. So I ordered an '18 230i in April 2017 from Steve Thomas BMW in Camarillo, CA for below MSRP. Delivery to the US west coast was delayed by a hurricane, so I ended up getting the car in October.

I love this car. Perfect size, more than enough grunt, looks amazing, and grips like much pricier /M model around corners. I started modding it and it got even better. I think I'm going to drive it until gasoline runs out and/or user-driven cars with human drivers are obsoleted or banned from roadways.

As far as an eventual replacement (or rather, a second supplemental car) goes, I might have to go for a bigger sedan if I become a family man someday, or will pick up a truck and a real purpose-built racecar if I get the urge to go even faster and my financial situation allows it.

2014 228i M sport, 6 Speed, Glacier Silver/Coral Red, purchased CPO 5/2017 @9k miles, currently @52k miles. Feels nice having no car note, tempted to upgrade to an M2 in the next two years.

My wife got her M240i last year and plans to keep it until she has to grab the door and use it to lift herself out of the car. She is 51 and since her grandmother had great mobility beyond 90 it seems we will keep it for many years.

After that I am not sure we need another car.

Ever since my first BMW ride.....waaaaay back in the late 70's (a new '77 320i) on a German autobahn) I've wanted a small BMW. After a number of 'intermediate' vehicles over the many years, found a new "left-over" loaded 2019 230i xDrive Sport w/ Premium, Convenience & Track packages several states away. It was so loaded, its MSRP was nearly $52k, including 4 extra BMW wheels with Conti TS830 RF Winter tires. Dealer was anxious to sell (it'd been on the lot since Dec '18) so I obliged and purchased it Labor Day weekend last year with only 105 miles. Now has ~7,800 miles including last year's trip to BMWCCA's O'fest in Greenville, SC.
Can't envision parting with it....Mediterranean Blue Metallic over Black Leather/Red stitching and together with our '15 MINI Roadster S, we have a nice stable. Eventually, the wife's '15.5 Volvo V60 Cross Country will be replaced and perhaps at that time, its replacement will be electric.

Bought a 16' 235i MT CPO with 25K last fall. 2nd Bimmer, have a 330ci vert.

I'll have this awhile, unless wife takes and I'm "forced" to get a 2020 Comp.

Love the car, looknig at a few mods, new rims (what a cluster look that is) and new rubber, RFT suck

Bought a 16' 228XI M-Sport in August of 2017

Love the car, and will probably keep it around 2 more years, as I only have 32k miles on it.

Next will most likely be a 2021 or 2022 230I, or maybe a M240i, depending.

Bought my '15 228i vert in Aug 2018, with 17,600 miles on it. Currently it has 27,600 miles (roughly 555 miles/month) and I plan on keeping it a long time. If I were to get rid of it, I'd love to get a Porsche vert.

I actually ever planned on buying an M240i, originally I was all about getting an M4. However I didn't really care for the colors the M4 came in. So I started doing some research on the 2 series, specifically the M2, and noticed everyone kept talking about the M240i and how it was a better bang for your buck, especially if your plan is to mostly daily drive it. This was back in August/September and I started to really look for a car last month. Lucky for me the exact car I wanted was 4 hours away and had low mileage. Got my 2018 M240i with 10.5k miles for $32,900. Sometimes you just get lucky! By comparison a 2018 M2 was ~45k at the time.

2017 built to spec, arrived in June 2017. Only 14,875 miles so probably will keep this car at least another 3 years. Miss my vert so that would be the reason for a change.
