So you are saying that the M235i will have a slightly sportier character than the M135i?

Does 315hp seem a little weak to anyone for a supposedly sporty car with a 3L i6 twin scroll turbo? Hell, the new A-class AMG is a 2.0L 4cyl turbo making 360hp.

I'm sure the i6 is quieter, smoother, etc. But.. who wants that in a sporty car?

if its true that this car is lighter than the current 1er, then 315 is plenty. I'm guessing BMW doesn't want to too strong because that would leave no room for an M2 and could step on the heels of the M3. The current 135i is pretty close to an M3 in terms of acceleration.

It's sad to see BMW naming a 315hp car with no limited slip differential as an "M". That M should mean something, don't put it on every car...

AH, I see this brings goosebumps already to my skin. Although, the M2 is the car to get,i wouldn't mind settling on an M235i

One thing I am wondering about is timing. My 135 lease ends on December 10--obviously these babies won't be on this side of the pond by then. Not really sure what I am going to do as a result...

There isn't any other car in the BMW lineup that I would consider right now, so if the timing doesn't work out for me, might have to deviate from the brand a bit...

I am also not blown away with the N55. I had an N54 6MT for a couple of years, and am in a N55 DCT now. The current car just doesn't do it for me--it doesnt feel nearly as powerful as my old N54. It also uses more oil...I was hoping for a new engine option on the 235/M235....

We shall see..
I'm in the same boat...I was thinking about getting a late production 2013 135i convertible but I'm slowly deciding against it due to the E88 1 series cars receiving left-over parts (ski-bag, front console smokers pkg tray) and the stupid packaging of things that were once stand alone options. They also eliminated exterior paint colors and interior colors.
*I still may get one due to limited choices, however I don't want the horrendous rear seats/head rests they have been using in the convertibles since 2012.

My 11' 128i vert lease is up on July 16th. I wonder if I can extend the lease until September and then order one for November production .

If I can't order a F23...I'd have to rush to order a 2013 E88 1 series vert or wait it out for a good deal on a 2014 Z4 2.8i sport pkg. (I wouldn't mind waiting for a 17' F23)
This is going to be a stressful and confusing year ahead! I don't want to make the wrong decision. Price is important too. I usually put $4k down on a lease and like to keep my lease down to around $420-430 a month.
I'm paying $398 for my 11' 128i currently.

You up for a drive to go and purchase your car?

You need to go see David Aviles @ Northwest BMW in Baltimore--he will give you the VIR pricing (roughly equiv to getting the ED price). My dad and I drove my '08 out there to drop it off when I got the '11. Saved me ~$200 a month over my previous lease payment. For a more expensive car.

With that being said, my guess is the BMWFS will work with you if you're in the market for another one of their cars. I have heard on here that you can extend the lease by 4 months, no questions asked, if your lease is through BMWFS. So that's at least a starting point for you...

I love the 135is, and I bet I could pick one up pretty cheaply as the majority of people in that market will be waiting for the M235...but that would be my 3rd E82 in 5 years, and I want something that looks different...

I might end up with a GTI for a few years whilst waiting for the M2 as well, we will see...

I was looking to get a 135i or is coupe in the next month. Should i wait for the M235i or get a deal for the dying 1 series? Im worried that bmw will use the same steering as the 3 f30. I absolutely hate the electric steering on the f30 3. Please let me know.

I feel your pain, and I am undecided about buying a 2 because of it.

All the potential models drive me nuts. I need to pay attention. Nevertheless, I want a 4 door, xDrive, 6-speed manual 235i. Is that even possible/planned? Thank you.

Ummmmmm, no!!!
The "2 series" designation stands for 2 door models - as in "coupe" or "cabriolet", so getting a 4 door "2 series" is not possible.

Except when they offer a 2GC, which has been confirmed. The 6GC is already out and the 4GC is coming soon.

I have seen reports of the current 135i doing 0-60 in sub 5 seconds. Acceleration is the absolute last thing this car will have a problem with. Anyway we all know that 315 number is complete bs. I just saw a dyno of a stock M135i that was at 340hp at the crank.

It will be interesting to see what automakers start doing about this power corner they have backed themselves into. Because its getting to the point of stupidity.

Did they purposely make it 315hp so that people would still buy the PPK?

I think they did it so it is exactly 100hp shy of the new M3/4.

Oh my...that's even lamer than I thought. I understand why they'd want to neuter this car similar to how a Cayman S is to a 911. I really hope they designed a specific engine for the M3/4 and not just a rehashed N55.

At least with the E9X, the 35i/is people would never achieve the sexy music the S65 makes + the purity of an NA engine.
