I've lost 4 caps altogether, 2 on each of the front tires. Definitely a problem.
My dealer has been giving me replacements for free, so no complaints there. |

That is great but.......I would think they would fix something as silly as this. But I guess if there is a OTC on the wheels or something there are a lot of parts to run thu before it is corrected. Will see
Just toured the Spart plant and they carried on about quality control and vendor compliance |

yhuupp me too! I lost my front passenger side. I need to call my dealer and see if they will replace it then since this seems to be a problem. I thought some a-whole ripped it off. At least now I can rest easier at night and put my 1911 back in its case lol

Went to the track yesterday and i lost two center caps after the first 3 laps, it was funny cause there was a sound and the plastic center pops out, in my opinion it is because the rims gets to hot.

My front caps protrude more than the rear from the factory. Will not go in any further. Mayne they are too tall and need to be shortened. I might measure them and the hole depth
Pics are front then rear |

Thank you pikcachu. I became confident that perhaps BMW address the issue on my 25 week build, shame on me. I'll be pulling all the remaining ones out and add some tape to them to get a tighter fit.

I checked my caps and they seem tight. However, should I detect any looseness, I think that 2 or 3 small dabs of RTV would solve the problem, yet still allow easy removal if needed.

I noticed this SAME exact thing... maybe the issue is on the staggered setup? Tolerance fail on the wider wheels?

I haven't had any trouble getting them replaced @ Classic BMW in Dallas, but I have lost a total of 5 now. 2 from the front left wheel, 3 from the front right wheel. My understanding is that the parts guy at the dealer escalated the issue to their regional BMW NA Rep - and the guy that popped the last one in even commented that it was too easy to get the Roundel into the space. My guess is that the wheels are off by a fraction of a millimeter or something, but when the wheels are spinning at 80 MPH or whatever, that small amount of "play" causes them to fall out.

And here's a brand new one for sale that apparently has already lost a center cap!

Save yourself some time and grief: Pop them off, apply 3 small dabs of RTV, reinstall. Such a simple solution.

Mine are fixed...the ones from my 1 series fit perfectly. Maybe the dealer can replaced the lost ones with the old ones. I had a spare almost perfect set in the toolbox so thought I would give them a try. My 2 series ones just came out with my fingers....no wonder they are popping out going down the road. I now can't get the old style ones out unless I remove the wheels. They also fit all the way in flush with the wheel
