This just in... M235i's on the way (Canadian dealers)
Since many of you have been of great assistance to me, I try to return the favour as much as possible...
I've just done a quick analysis by contacting some of the Canadian BMW dealers (note certain dealers are affiliated, so I've group those that are together, and ergo the cars listed may be at one affiliate or the other) as to what M235i combos have arrived (i.e., landed) or are on the way, for those of you looking for demos or ordering: Dealer Tel# M235i ext/int BMW Toronto (416) 623-4269 EB/Blk; BSM/Blk; BSM/CR Parkview BMW (416) 444-4269 AW/Blk; BSM/CR; MG/Terra in Apr/14 BMW Grand River (Kitchener) BMW T&C (905) 477-2212 AW/CR; EB/CR; MG/Blk & BSM/Terra in late Mar/14 BMW Endras (905) 619-5522 Only 228i for now in Blk/Blk & AW/CR; M235i next month BMW London (855) 897-6464 Silver/Blk; AW/Blk; MW/Blk; EB/Blk ships in 2 weeks; Red/Blk ships in 3 weeks Maranello BMW (416) 213-5699 BSM/CR BMW Mississauga & their affiliates (905) 625-7533 Nothing has landed in Canada as yet w Terra interior, except for BMW T&C's aforementioned BSM/Terra in transit. This dealer may have a few other M235i combos (I didn't get a chance to ask further). Hope this info is useful to some of you Last edited by Cosa Nostra; 02-24-2014 at 03:43 PM.. |

Elite BMW in Ottawa have a AW?/Blk-Red interior M235, 6spd, prem pkg available for a test drive. They also have a black M235 on the way and I believe it has prem and connected drive packages, also a 6 speed.
Kudos to Elite for ordering both their demos as 6 speeds. Even the sales guy was surprised. |

At first I thought you were pulling my leg and referring to London, England LOL! Well, as u can see, I took u up on your (ahem, dare I say) great suggestion to contact the GTA dealers, and sadly, unlike you, I missed the fact that London, ON has both whites. I guess I was too focused on who has Terra interiors - nobody. It's a few hours drive to London, so I dunno, but in the meantime T&C has two cars (not M235i's mind you) side-by-side (one in AW, the other in MW). W/b best to see these colours on the M235i I suppose. Real tough call, if I decide to go white on Terra. Really like the depth and shine of MW (just a little pearl/platinum/silver), and shows off the lines of the car better I think, but AW has its merits too - a simple, less expensive, true white. MG also looks good on Terra. I dunno.

Here's one for yah. Was highly considering the m235 with my current 09 128 on trade...tranny just broke $4500 fix out of warranty. Talk about bad timing. This may put me out of market on the m235 might have to go to 228 stripper model now

My gti had both the fuel pump and water pump go before 50k miles. Fuel pump was not covered under powertrain warranty, so I was paying for fix to a car with <50k miles on the clock.

Car has 63000km or 40000miles. Never tracked or bunouts, spirited driving now and then yes. It just started popping out of first gear the last 3 weeks out of blue, try and put back in all this grinding, it would go in and I could go but very annoying. All other gears work no issue. Then at Toronto auto show in downtown toronto just a mess, every stop light onward in first grinding and popping out of first, so I went with 2nd launches. Got it home did a indy shop first, he only mumbled to replace gear oil, so I opted to BMW dealer. They charged me 1 hr labour only to say that the tranny had to come down for further investigation, but that ball park figure was at least $1000 labour just to diagnose! and then all I heard was $5000 for a new BMW tranny as they didn't stock any parts! I was taken back at this, so decided to take car back and maybe try a transmission only shop. So long story short, after dropping transmission I had broken shift fork and worn gears in the 1st-2nd area and no parts could be found, anywhere as BMW just don't have them! So next best thing was a new or rebuilt tranny labour $4500! Talk about a punch to the gut, especially so damned close to the m235i and 228i showing up, now with it fixed I have $4500 less in the bank for a potential new machine. This car was out of warranty and I own it outright, and a transmission is a wear and tear item, but still no parts around anywhere to fix them, that is absurd. But after talking even to a place in the states, that is the way it is! So if I decide to go with BMW (on the fence now need to do some serious thinking) I will lease. At least then I can enjoy a car in warranty period then get rid of it before it could potentially turn into a money pit. And with all the stuff in a m235 that could break down the road....OMG I don't even want to think!

My wife keeps cars for 10 years, so we buy them. Just put another $2K into her Mercedes last fall.

Had you bought the 2er and dumped your worn/torn/abused tranny 1er on some poor unsuspecting schlub, wouldn't you have felt worse sticking him with the repair bill?

That's a real shame indeed. The BMWs are really well built, and the really only big ticket item if it were to go is the tranny. That's why I lease (or own if u prefer) but only up to warranty period, and then flip/sell/etc.

I'd already been thinking about waiting until the rev-matched manual comes out, this only reinforces that thought since perfect rev-matching all the time will certainly lower the stress and hence wear on the box. Or I'll go for an M2 which should have the new stronger box from the just-released M3/M4 (also with rev-matching) - if a Golf R is not bought first. |
