Drilled or slotted brake disc's
Ok,
So i narrowed my options to these Street T2 DBA Discs Front @ £278.63 Never heard of them , a little search they seem to be a good brand, quality seems to be good. I do fancy the 4000's but they're a bit expensive. STOPTECH SPORTSTOP GROOVED FRONT DISCS (PAIR) - @ £220 , I heard good review with cool carbon pads from over the pound but still not quite sure. Finally i am trying to find Zimmerman Z Sport discs but i cannot find anything on the net for a uk suppiler apart from GSF/ECP but they only have m3's!! Anyone has any experiance with these?

No experience with them personally, but when I was researching few months ago. I found the drilled discs to get negative reviews as they can & do crack easier.

As long you warm them up properly, and make sure to let it cool doen after hard use you dhould be fine. Just don't put cold water on them when its hot!!

If u break up the cost disc around 200, pads 100 then you are only paying 500 for the kit!! AP's are 2.3k!!

Found these (Just callipers): http://www.individual-cars.com/xshop...-Gehaeuse.html I purchased my LCI Tail Lights from them and shipping took like 2 days. I wonder if the calipers would be a perfect fit with my current discs (E93 320) |

My RS4 had drilled discs and all the holes had small hairline cracks appearing.
I wouldn't buy grooved either, they can be very noisy, and eat the pads quicker too. Anyway, drilled or grooved doesn't make a huge difference anyway, big plain discs with decent calipers is plenty good enough |

If you want the visual effect and some of the benefits, look for dimpled rather than drilled discs. Grooves are fun, and look good, but yes, they're noisy. Every single time you use the brakes they hum. Loudly. Quite cool for the first week but annoying after the novely wears off.

Cheap discs Shocker!
On the theory that most discs are probably from blanks made in few factories in china or somewhre anyway, I bought those cheap Mtec drilled discs for mine. http://www.mtecbrakes.co.uk/index.ph...ducts_id=15263 BRILLIANT. £186 for ALL 4, delivered. After 7 or 8K miles and a trackday - no problems, no vibes or noise, no cracking, no blueing or streaking or DTVs. MUCH SMOOTHER WHEH HOT THAN OE BMW ONES EVER WERE, no rumbling from high speed etc. In fact it was the yellow stuff pads that got cooked at the trackday, with chunks falling off the edges. For road use I would heartily recommend these discs and will buy them again - with the black coating this time (i painted them myself last time). Yellow stuff gave great bite from cold, but will try DS2500 next. No bull. |

Yes they do drill them themselves, buy they work great, like I said much better to live with than the factory BMW discs.
You can buy "OE quality" discs for about £50/60 online fitted by garages all over the place, these are the same price as Mtech. I'm sure most of the textar / eicher etc discs are from plants in the far east, nothing wrong with that. Don't be too sucked in by all the marketing hype regarding one piece cast discs, the main factor is pads and fluid not discs. How DBA can justify charging nearly £1000 quid for a set of one-piece cast discs is beyond me! Gazillions of cars running cheap cast discs can't all be wrong, nothing special about a 335i in that department. The Stoptech 'pretend' big brakes are a rip off, they're the same price as 'proper' AP brakes FFS! Last edited by doughboy; 06-10-2013 at 06:46 AM.. |

+1 I was looking at the Aussie brakes a while back... I could only find horror stories of them warping within 2000km Anyway get a stock disc....get someone to create your design on it... Ten get a decent pad. End of.... Well that's what I am going to do. May even try these mtec discs. |

Mtec are 'just up the road' from me (well, a 45 minute road) - probably the first time anywhere mentioned on the UK forum has been!
I've been eyeing up a set of front dimpled, silver coated discs from them. |

The black painted MTEC discs look great, they give a kind of fake '2 piece' look to them, and don't show the brake dust.
When you buy them they are black all over, but it comes off the disc face in a few miles leaving a perfect, rust proof, shiny black centre portion. |
