Question engine revs after starting????

Doesn't happen all the time..seems to be only when I start car first thing in morning (after it sits all night).

starts and within a second..revs up to 2 on the rpms...then back down. (Not a full rev pinning the needle...just a little jolt up to 2).

And no..this is not the car's natural start. It starts and sounds normal then clearly revs after a second or 2 after the idle start.

Anyone else seen this? Is it something to be concerned about?

This is a brand new 328i with 100 miles on it...

THANKS!

Either that or its getting cooler out and the engine usually idels high to warm up the CAT's quickly to reduce emissions.

Its not really a cool thing.. My past 2 Mercedes that had this the cats would fail early because of cracking, and part of the reason was the fast warming up when it was ice cold out. But they lasted about 50k miles before it happened. I think my e46 had a cat crack also but I cant recall.

FWIW, mine started doing that after upgrading from PROGMAN 21 to 25 -- I noticed it blips the throttle more now when it starts (up to 2K), A/C or not.
