2012 335is (loaded) or 2013 GT-R? Please hear me out...

Hello everyone. I recently sold my 2011 6MT N55 335 cpe (AW/CR) and I'm in the market for a new coupe. I've been following the GT-R for some time and a put a deposit on an incoming 2013 due for delivery in April. I know I know, it's just a Nissan, but the performance is phenomenal. I recently found a loaded 2012 335is with DCT (also AW/CR) and have the chance to get it for invoice. I test drove another DCT 335is and I was completely blown away by the performance!! I know some of you might be asking why I'm comparing a 335is with a GT-R, but my next car purchase will be one I keep for a while. I also would like to stay in the BMW family and the is's fit and finish can't be denied. My fiance and I are using her Murano as a DD right now. I can easily afford the payment and maintenance on either car, so that's not a concern. I drove a 2011 M3 DCT back to back with the IS and wasn't really impressed with the M3's acceleration and fuel consumption. I appreciate your time and opinions on this matter, as I have only a short time to make the decision.

What you mean its just a nissan lol. IF you can afford the GTR, i say go for it honestly, because thats what i would do, and im pretty sure you wont regret it. But like you said if you want to stay in the bmw family. the 335is is not bad a choice either, but i personally would rather take the M3 instead. GL with your decision!

The GT-R is in the M5 class or at least I've seen performance comparisons to it.

Way different price point vs the 335i as well.

If you can afford it...GT-R all the way.

Two different cars for 2 different purposes... if performance is your goal, then the choice is obvious here.

No idea who would say the GTR is just a nissan.

Have you driven the GT-R yet? The performance potential of the car is phenominal and cannot be denied. I would say that whether or not you can live with it as a daily driver is a big part of the equation. When I was younger I drove around stiff street to track cars without even thinking about it but now.... Well, lets just say I'm older and I hear the GT-R is a tough ride everyday. Make sure you drive it. I suspect the 335is will blend daily use with performance more efficiently but that GT-R.. Wow, i would love to ring one of those out on the track for a day.

I've heard GTRs are expensive to own (even though you say you can afford either). Gotta think about insurance rates, tires, gas, etc...

If your looking for a daily driver, the 335is will definitely be a softer ride, but by no means is the GT-R an unbearable daily driver. If you have decent roads and set it on comfort it's not a bad DD IMHO. Like it has been said before, there is just no comparison. Good luck

How long are you planning on owning the car? How many miles will you put on it?

Would have to know what you really want in a car. Like somebody else said, if performance is top priority the choice is obvious. Sounds like maybe that's not your top priority, though.

This. Performance there is no comparison but comfort definitely takes a pretty big hit with the GT-R (based what I've read from reviews). If you can tolerate it and can easily afford the GT-R, I say go for that but if not, the 335is is a good car.

If you are looking for best performance then the GTR

If you are looking for a DD then the 335is

If you want your cake and eat it at the same time then mod the hell out of the 335is.

Nothing feels better than a build investment that you can sit back, look at it and say yes I did this.

Talking performance only, a GTR is leaps and bounds better than anything BMW makes - especially the 335is. If I had enough disposable income that I didn't care to save, I'd have a GTR in my garage right now.

For shits and giggles:

I didn't mean to say that the GT-R is "just a Nissan" because I am by no means a fanboy. I've owned a G37 and IS-F previously and they were pretty good cars. I plan on keeping the car for at least 4 or 5 years and yes, performance is top priority only because I want to have some fun.
