Found the Rattle!!! How to Fix Rearview Mirror?
Hey everyone... finally found the most annoying rattle in the cabin... for the longest time I thought it was on the dash or in the air duct, couldn't pin point it... my dad sat in passenger seat and still couldn't figure it out.... the noise only happens going over bumps or rough road and a little rattle can be heard, sounds very cheap... for months it has been doing this and finally I found it today!! The damn cheap rearview mirror!!! This thing feels like its made out of milk carton plastic, there is no strength to the material at all and no buffer between the aspects of the plastic. It also feels as though its not closed all the way between the front and the back??? I squeeze it and it feels like it should go together more but I can't fig out how to do it
Anyone know how to fix this or should I bring it to the dealer?? I think the rattle is coming from the bottom part with the clown nose and the garage opener, that plastic covering is rattling with the part it connects to...? help! Don't feel like bringing it back to the dealer but I will if I have to |

Funny...I have the same rattle and at first thought it was on the center console. I even brought it to service yesterday to have it checked out and the technician came back to say that there was no rattle when they tested it out. When I picked up the car and drove it along some rough parts of a freeway, the rattle was back. Only this time, did I stick my ear close by and determined it was coming from the rear view mirror. DOH!

I've got the same issue, I'm scheduled to go in on the 22nd to have it looked at. I had the service tech run a search for any new known issues today and he said there is a bulletin released in Jan., but that's for adding additional padding or felt tape around certain areas. I think it's the mirror also.

This issue just started for me. Drove me crazy until I found this post and I confirmed it was the mirror as well.
Before I send it in for service, has anybody found a fix? |

Odd, Im not getting a rattle but I find on VERY hot days, the mirror has dipped down a bit out of position. Is there a nut that we can make tighter?

cut in into small pieces(very small) and push around the mirror to check for creeks or any noise. where it is is making noise i would stuff the felt into there.

Sorry to resurrect an ancient thread but I came upon this thread first and there were no answers posted sooo:
Summer time has come and it's hot as hell. With the warmer temperatures I noticed a new rattle coming from my rear view mirror area. I just took the plastic housing apart that encloses the base of the rear view mirror against the interior windshield. Inside it was a little wired microchip with adhesive on one side that I can only suspect has something to do with the rain sensing wipers. This little chip had lost it's adhesiveness in the heat and fallen off down into the plastic mirror housing causing the rattle. All I did was press it firmly back into place against the windshield and voila! No more rattling. |

Mine was the same issue, due to a windshield replacement. It took less than a minute to remove the base plastic cover and reapply the sensor. Hopefully it sticks this time. |
