Question Side reflectors for space grey e92 msport

So I was wondering everyone's opinion about replacing the stock reflectors with either paint matched or smoked reflectors? Sry I don't know how to do a poll.

I vote painted as well...

A bit off topic: Is there a way to do this yourself?

I tried reaching out to vendors on this site...and none of them will paint the reflectors Majave for me. It's the one color they don't have :-(

I bought those as well just to see which one's I like better. Can't go wrong for the price. I guess a Pic next to yours would be the best comparison. I don't think the smoke look looks bad by any means.

I was hoping they would be a little bit lighter. Had done a set of rear side marker lights on my gray TL that were almost a dead match for the paint when the lights were off.

Did not want to paint the stock ones on the BMW but could always do that with one of the spare sets.

Painted reflectors, at least IMO, looks the best/cleanest look. Blends in and doesn't steal the focus.

Clear is nice... still serves the function of a reflector and it goes well with the white/clear of the LCI headlight.

It's because they are all "is" models, if they were not "is" I could understand why you were suprised to see the 313s

SGM looks good with the smoked reflectors mines jet black with smoke reflectors and you cant even tell there not painted... only thing is fitment wise you get a MUCH better flush look with painted ones iv noticed they fill the hole better than the reflectors

You can go with Euro bumpers that do not have the reflectors

Definitely paint matched. Really cleans up the front of the car, in my opinion.

painted reflectors. space gray is too light of a color with smoked. smoked, in my opinion, only look good on really dark colors. but even with those, painted still looks cleaner.

Thanks for the pics guys. I still have some time to figure it out. I am stuck tryintg to deciding between the painted and the smoked. I think what makes the smoke look better for me is that the mirror caps are black on the IS where as I am getting "I". Mirror caps are body color.

Are you asking how to install them yourself or paint them yourself?

If the former, there are a bunch of DIY guides in the DIY forum. The way I did it was extremely easy. Get some 3M adhesive remover and spray it on the stock reflector, from inside the wheel well. Let it sit, facing the sun on warm day for about 5 minutes or so. This will soften up the adhesive tape on the stock reflector and allow you to simply push it out with your fingers. You can use a thin screw driver to help get it off easily. (note: only work with toos on the inside of the wheel well so you don't mess up your paint.) Clean the spot off with some paper towels so you have a clean surface for the adhesive tape to mate with and you're done. Repeat for the other side.
