e92 UK delivery hold ups

Hi

I have an e92 320i on order for my wife. It was due at the dealer last Monday but then it got held up en route. The car is still ahead of schedule for delivery in week 20 but I wonder if anyone else is experiencing delays with delivery at present?

Welcome to the forum

I have just been onto my dealer regarding my E93 320i M Sport order, its still week 20 build and delivery expected 11th June, but he said they sometimes come through quicker. Hopefully yours comes soon. Tell us when it comes in.

They do sometimes come through quicker according to my dealer as well.

Once you get your production slot, as there is a name against the car it can get bumped up the production order, ahead of cars that ahve not been ordered, apparantly.

I need to mail my dealer to see what week mine is.

rjs> True but that usually happens pretty quickly as I understand it. i.e. my car was a dealer order due towards end of may but when it was customised to be my order it jumped back to 1st week in May.... yet to be seen if it comes then or given my issues with DVLA/Registration whether I can actually take owernship of it

OK, my dealer has been somewhat vague about my delivery date so far!

Initially the manager said late June, but then my sales woman told me that he means mid-June, but was just saying that to cover himself in case it was delayed Then another chap chimed in later on with the bumping story & (in accordance with your info) said that it cluld even be early June!

I'm currently attempting to get a more secific date out of them

Hope you get your DVLA/Reg sorted, I'll be a nightmare if the car is at the dealer but you can't take ownership

RJ, ask your dealer for a build week and a delivery week. Both are available to them. Mine is build week 20, delivery week 23.. Can't wait!

Rjs> That sort of tallies with my experience. The dealer quoted early-mid April when we ordered but said it could be bumped down once it was assigned to a customer. We then spoke the next week and he advised that it had come forward to first week in May.

andyb - snap... as far as i know mine is production week 20. Tried to add HiFi Pro to the spec and the dealer said it has a chassis number and is to late.

spec is 335i e92 m sport, auto / 225m's, black /coral/usb/nav pro/heated seats/folding dimming mirrors/bluetooth/dark grey poplar/front sensors...

he reckons delivery towards end of may.. but i hope for it sooner. i got a 3% discount, but told him about coast2coast (found out about them after i ordered!) and as a goodwill gesture i am getting paint/interior treament worth £399 - not sure how good it is.

still havent decided on tracker (no insurance discount but piece of mind) and the service package.. i may not go for this as it will delay the car!

will part exc my current car rather that private sale (scared of fraud and hassle factor etc) but the difference between private sale and part x would pay for tracker

so if mines week 20 production i wonder when i will recieve? he did say it could move forward. he also said that 335i's ordered now will be december 2007 and e93's will be march 2008! 335d should be better on lead times...

cheers guys

December! Blimey I only ordered mine a couple of weeks ago & they said the wait was October. Demand for the engine must be huge.

Guess I was pretty lucky to get a June delivery.

its a shocker .. i would of thought that applies to the e90 335i too, as those turbos can't be made quick enough. can't be bad for short term residual values tho! wondering what my 40K 335i will be worth in 3 years (infact i better not as i may cry) but it will be worth every penny i'm sure.. plus i am used to the deprication levels of fords so it will be fine! (sorry to go off topic!)

Looks like quite a few of us are week 20 build for our M Sports, mines only a 320i, but there is only about 100yds of dual carrigeway on the Isle of Wight so I can live without the extra power!!

Yeah, they ran out of engines apparently as they had such huge demand. Although between being told that by one dealer and ordering the car from another, I managed to shave 6 months off the delivery time estimate

Similar spec to mine although I've ticked a few more. I'm also chopping in a trade in vehicle and I got a good discount too. It really helps to have a good relationship with a dealer, this will be my 6th BMW if we count the Mini Cooper S I bought 2 cars ago:-) So I know them quite well and vice versa and didn't need to spend much time getting to their best price. So in short. It pays to shop around for your first BMW then to stick to them and nurture the relationship with your 2nd 3rd 4th and 5th..

As for the Tracker and the Service inclusive. I've had a pretty good insurance quote without it so I might not bother (APLan) also my dealer tells me that the service inclusive package isn't very good value.. Depending on how long you plan to keep the car and how many miles you are going to do.

Very excited about my car. I plan to run it in then replace the exhaust with a milltek, other than that I won't touch it. Any other Week 20/23 cars?

I heard from my friend today that he called his dealer about the delivery of his 320 cabriolet and was told that there was a 7 week delay on all 3 series cabriolets?

His was due the end of May?

Has anyone else heard of any delays in the factory?

When I tried the dealer for a part-ex price for my car they offered me £18.5K for it. (A 28 month old 330cd sport with 23k miles)

I was absolutey gutted at the price so put it into Autotrader last week and within 2 days on the autotrader website (before it got to publication), I had managed to sell the car for £22K.

I went to the bank with the buyer and he got the bankers draft there and then so I knew/hoped all was above board.

I know this was very lucky but it still meant getting £3.5K more for the car - which is a huge amount.

The deal clincher was the colour combo and the fact it had a sunroof.

So Dazzapb, It may be worth a bit of extra worry and stress as there is a lot more at stake than the price of a tracker.

Best of Luck.

thanks 330 for you comments... thats a massive diff.. the thing is i drive a old 2002 2.0L mondeo ghia and the dealer said he would offer between 3200 and 4300 (which is the difference for you between part x and private!) i was hoping for the higher bracket. however i could get maybe another £500/£1000 private. still might just do that, and as its not a great deal of money in total (not like your previous motor!) .... cheers

gosh these lead times aren't good... i would contemplate a used e92 if this was the case, but i doubt many e92 m-sports are on the second hand market and the spec that i would want.

the thing is i believe that all dealers have certain slots and the bigger the dealer or group the more slots they have. I went with cooper (part of inchscape) who are a large group and they dont have any 335i slots until the end of the year. apprantly my slot was nicked for another dealership. By the same token perhaps other smaller dealerships have free slots - who knows. But then you want to build up a relationship with the dealer and get discounts etc and thats not great if its at the other end of the country

the m-sport has only been in the country for a few weeks so i guess there won't be an abundance of them about.

Did you see the 3 series vs A5 review in one of the motoring magazines? I believe the 3 series won.

335i vs S5

I think there's been articles in Autocar & Auto Express.

335i won both times
