Comfort Access Key Fob Fault

I parked my car and pressed the STOP button. I opened my door and as I was just able to step out I see some message that the Key Fob was not detected and possible faulty engine. So I then I pressed START again and my engine started and I pressed STOP just to see if the error code was still there. The next time I pressed START, the error code was gone. Is this normal? Can I just ignore?

You may have a failing fob battery. It takes a CR 2032 and is very easy to replace - see your owner's manual for instructions.

If you only "pressed" stop then you put it into accessory mode (or something). This is basically leaving the radio and such switched on. My '06 tells you this in the display. If you tried to step out of the car with the radio switched on, then it alerted you to the key being out of range for starting the car.

If you're exiting the car, either press the stop again to turn everything off or when shutting the car down, hold the stop button till everything shuts down.

I have noticed if I put my fob in the handle to close the door, when the door is open, the key message shows up. So it's likely that's the same distance as you describe for your issue above.

Fyi, if you don't want to hold the Start button down or double-press it, just get out of the car and lock it. That shuts everything down too. I thought it was strange that my radio and lights stayed on after I left the car, but it all turns off when you lock it.
