Seatbelt Handover not working
Hi all,
New to posting, but have followed this site for ages. Yesterday my driver's side seatbelt arm just stopped working. Nothing happens when I start the car, passenger side works fine. My car is 3 years and 1 month old - just out of warranty by one month...aggh! I know lots of owners hate this feature on the car, but I think it's great, esp as it has worked flawlessly so far. Just wanted some advice or to see if any of you have had a similar experience. Apologies if this has been discussed already, but I could only find threads on ones that have got stuck halfway out, but none that have failed to extend at all. Am i going to have to re-mortgage the house to get it repaired at the dealer? |

This is a new one on me - that it just doesn't come out at all (if I read your post right).
My driver side one just started doing the same thing - not coming out at all - once in a great while, usually the first time I drive the car after it's been parked for a few days. And this only started since the dealer replaced the whole arm because it was coming out every time, but missing (or catching and not being able to hang on to) the seat belt. good luck... maybe pull the fuse for the arms, start/stop the car, put the fuse back in? (many people pull the fuse to disable the feature but I don't know which one/# it is nor do I remember anyone saying exactly which one to pull)

Thanks for that - yes you read it right - it does not come out at all. No sound or noise as if the motor is running or anything.
From my understanding, one fuse controls both the driver and passenger side. If the fuse was the problem the passenger side should have stopped too, but it still works. That's what's worrying me! Still, worth a try removing and replacing the fuse I guess. Will have a look when I get a moment. I've read quite a few people have the problem you had, hope the replaced mechanism settles down! |
