Garage List
think you will need different steering wheel and wiring. Check this out:

Would not think the wiring is in place as each paddle has a small loom running to it but would think the plugs are there for the loom so you just might need to buy the looms, might also need programming by your BMW dealer too.

Pretty sure there is a DIY on it here somewhere if you do a search as many people have done it.

paddle shifter

I am on about the wiring in steering column to the shifter/gearbox, obviously if i buy a paddle shift wheel with paddles attached the wiring would be in place inside the wheel.

regards

I wouldn't assume the paddle wiring will come with the wheel, most wheels I have seen come without any wiring and you use the wiring in your car or buy new. Wouldn't be sure about wiring from paddle to box being in place in a car without this facility as standard.

Best to PM someone who has done the modification.

There is a DIY on fitting the M Sport steering wheel that I used recently, remember reading of a few guys on there who had added paddles as well so they should be able to help or perhaps there is a separate DIY for the paddle retrofit.

Changing the wheel itself is a simple job following the guide.
