Black factory wheels on e92, opinions please!

I'm curious what you all think about these wheels in black. At first I couldn't decide if I liked them but now I'm leaning towards no. This is the second e92 I've seen with this. I'd like to see them in person. Maybe they would look better if the car was lowered...

I am planning on doing small exterior mods like painted side reflectors and grill. I don't have money for wheels right now so I was looking at cheaper mods. Does anyone know how much powder coating (or whatever its called...I'm still learning) costs?

Somehow, this fails. Looks cheap. Like modding on a budget.

The only rule of modding is: NEVER look cheap when modding.

That's kind of what I was thinking. I'm still a little torn.

I asked the parts dept, at my BMW dealer, how much the factory 19" 5 spoke wheels cost...it was something ridiculous (for factory wheels anyways)! I really wish I could find those cheaper somewhere. See pic:

I agree with the above, looks cheap.

Perhaps that is because my mind recognizes the wheels as factory.. and it looks like someone just threw a can of paint on them..

It doesnt look bad, just not RIGHT in my mind.

Your best bet to finding affordable OEM wheels is here...

I love it. As long as the paint finish is pristine, it's a win. Its a pretty decent wheel already, so its not like you have a junk wheel on there.

ehhhhhh i never liked the look of the 189s painted a different color. To be honest if you lowered the car and kept the wheels silver, it would have looked a lot better.

Since you inquired the dealership about bmw 19 inch wheels where they quoted you a ridiculous price, I would consider aftermarket 19 inch wheels. I'm on my third set of Linea Corse wheels that I got through Zoeb at wheeldude.com. For the price they are pretty hard to beat. ($1299/set)

The car looks good with the black wheels. It might help if you lowered it a little bit but I think its pretty nice as is.

Personally I dont like how the 189s look in black. But I think the 269s, and the M wheels look great in gloss black. What ever you do, dont do flat/ matte black. Looks tacky.

Not to big on the black OEM, the silver looks better, drop it and see what it looks like then.

Not bad! Maybe I could save for something in that price range.

I agree with a lot of you...definatly need to lower it

I was wondering what lowering it with spacers would look like.

I'm just now learning about this stuff. This is my first car that I've even thought about modding this much.

Thanks for all your opinions everyone! If I do anything, I'll be sure to update with pics...in the proper forum
