Cool The real reason to buy 335i over 328i (AT only)...

...is the transmission!!! It shifts quite a bit faster than the AT in the 328i.

Aside from that, basically a 328i has all the gears shifted one off from the 335i in terms of torque you feel...

1st gear on 328i is basically like 2nd on 335i
4th on 328i is like 6th on 335i

So the only thing you're really missing in a 328i is the 335i's crazy 1st gear. For MT owners, this points to a 328i unless you really want the crazy 1st gear push.

Oh, and the exhaust note... the 335i exhaust note is much more interesting even at low RPM. But I figure they have exhausts for the 328i that can fix that problem.

Just sharing this info for anyone making the decision (I am a 335i owner myself).

Okay... let the perennial debate rage on! (I hope this thread will cover a different angle from the usual.)

Jesus Christ. We need to institute a new rule. Any threads about M3>335>328>M3>335>Sliced Bread should lead to an instant perma ban. These things always turn into flame wars and the subject has been beaten to death.

And then you can bring in the effect of tunes too. Fourth gear in JB3 335 is like 3rd gear in a 335, or 2nd in a 328 LOL

I think i saw somewhere that the car produces so much down-force it can drive upside down at 200mph.

Its weird but when I was driving the 328 loaner, I let go of the gas pedal and put it back on to switch gears, the gear didnt engage and it took seconds before shifting.

These threads are fucking retarded.

I've owned two ///M's, 1 328, 1 330, and 2 355i's. (That's just 3 Series...)

The difference is engine's, suspension, and transmission for the most part.

M3 V8, M3 susp, diff tranny, etc, etc. LSD...
335 TT 3.0, ZF
328 slow as balls N/A 3.0, GM tranny.

This isn't rocket science.

I'm going to have to agree and say crust. I never understood the kids at lunch who removed it.

Smart. The crust is probably where all the nutrients are anyways.

Agreed...I have only owned one German car but have had at least 7 loaners, and 2 328's for more than a week at a time. They drive nicely, but do not compare with a 335 as far as acceleration.

Why these threads turn into a bunch of flames is because people seem to have this "I got what I got because that's what I wanted, it isn't that I couldn't have afforded the other car." What's so shameful about having your means limited by your occupation and your personal financial situation? I myself am not free to buy the new 535i just because I like it and it was great when I sat in it last Sat.

Who cares? 128<328<335<335is<M3, there is no arguing with the pecking order.
