Anyone else's shadow line trims changed in color?
Ok, I have 09 335i with ZSP thus come with shadow line trims, it only has 10k miles so far, but trims are no longer pure black.
It has this gasoline like spots everywhere and those spots are turning into violet, blue, etc colors but in very faded shade. I thought it was left over soap residue from the car wash but after spot less carwash from yesterday, it is still there. Anyone else with same problem? |

^^ Not sure the dealer would do anything. This happens to the chrome trim, too, it looks just like the OP described. Sort of a cloudy, prism effect. I think it is hard water residue or something. I found that machine polishing clears it up, at least on the chrome trim of the 330i. Apparently Meg's Plast-X by hand will also clear it up.

This same issue plagued my last e46. Chrome trim looked terrible by the time I let her go....spotted and dull.
I have an 09 335 as well, though I haven't looked that close lately. Damn, I was hoping the shadowline trim would stand the test of time. Guess not. |

I had this problem on the shadowline trim on my E46. On the E92 it's fine (so far).

I see this being a problem down the road.
I suggest maybe using some non abrasive polish such as Klasse AIO or Poorboy's World to see if you can get rid of the blemishes. |

There have been multiple threads on this issue. My rainbow spots have always gone away with proper cleaning and polishing. Mine spots have never been permanant so it should come off with some work.

I have the chrome trim on my car. I have the same thing as others have said, spots that are very prism-like that just don't come off. I found however, that a mild polish like Menzerna P106 applied with a small foam applicator by hand works them out a bit but I'm not sure if its helpful to guys with shadowline.

The chrome trim on my 750i looks like crap after 45k miles. Not really something you expect on such an expensive car.
