Mercedes Considering Bringing Back V8 to C63
Good news for C63 fans. It looks like Mercedes is listening to their customers and critics, and is reconsidering the V8 for the C63.

I can't imagine paying $100K for a 4 cylinder C63 only for a V8 to come out a year or two after you get it. That depreciation curve is like a cliff at that point.

It's similar to what Porsche did with the 718 GTS. It had the 4 cylinder turbo a few years before changing it back to the NA 6 cylinder. At least they listen to their customers and don't turn a blind eye like BMW.

My question is... with the C63 just now hitting showrooms... has Mercedes tanked sales of it with this announcement for the next 2-3 years? Can't imagine anyone bothering with this iteration of the C63 knowing a V8 is coming. Maybe dealers will offer huge discounts on them?

That's what I'm thinking, the four bangers will be discounted substantially prior to V8 being available.

Because they have not reached US market. Supposedly US dealers started accepting orders early last month.

Maybe the data is indicating a big enough problem that they feel compelled to act/speak, rather than wait and see how it performs on the market. I know I wouldn't have touched it with a 10-foot pole, but I have accepted a while ago that my tastes no longer represent the buyer demographics these days. So, who knows. |

I "believe" the new S Class sales have hit a wall.
The new SL isn't getting a very warm reception. Those ugly as sin e things are stacked up like firewood. Seems their latest meetings might be in a different conference room with different people.

I assume this will start around $120K since the 4 cylinder is starting around $100K as mentioned.
With options - you're looking at $135K easy. The car market is becoming a joke and not worth it. |

That article quotes “two independent sources” and “senior engineers directly involved in the matter”, all unnamed. I haven’t read anything being confirmed by management.

Hopefully the pre-owned market will become a smorgasbord of yummy choices that were given up to go tech/ev. The SL was once a handsome choice. This one reminds me of a tic tac. Yes, I'm not thrilled with the styling these days. Definitely exceptions however. 5 BMW's over time but I highly doubt I get the 6th. Funky stuff.

At 11.52 in the vid it confirms what I was expecting, harsh suspension something that my previous W204 Sport suffered on uneven roads.
The 'eco ball' on the 4 banger is an absolute joke. |
