Audi S4 to M4 Comp Coupe Xdrive

Hi guys ,

I'm awaiting my M4C X , week 19 build . I'm coming from a 2018 Audi S4 which has always felt plenty quick to me . 0-60 in 4.2 isn't bad for this size car . I'm wondering have any of you already made this switch that can give me some idea of how much better and faster the new M will be ? I haven't even found an M to test drive but I've read enough to feel confident I'll love the new M . Thanks

Well considering you'll be going 0-60 anywhere from 3 seconds to 3.7 it will feel like a rocket launch. That is once you get through the breakin period….

S4 = 340i. An M3/M4 is on a whole different level.

I came to my G80 M3C xdrive from a B8 S4 that had an APR tune (ECU, pulley, performance cooling). The M3 feels way faster. The S4 is probably competitive from a dig up to maybe 30 or 40. I think the M3 walks it from there. M3 does feel like a whole different class of performance. I'm very happy with the trade on many levels and I'm sure you will be too.

So I actually just sold my 2021 Audi S5 sportback as I wait for my M3 Comp Xdrive.

How ever I did rent a M3 Comp RWD for a week and its night and day. And thats even with my Audi s5 being stage 1+ 034 (intake , IC ).

The M3 just keeps pulling into the triple digits and even with RWD from a stop it was mind boggling. The biggest difference is how much the s58 loves to rev out it was so much fun.

I hope this gives you a decent idea. The B9 S4 (even with JB4 and E80) that I had was slower than the stage 2.5 GTI I had at the time. The RS3 I got later was faster than the stage 2.5 GTI. The G82 is even faster than the RS3 which was saying a lot as my RS3 was quite the rocket!

BMW has better infotainment tech too. I thought Audi was good at the time but BMW is much better. It is often too complicated for even my tastes but it's good they give you many many options.

I came from a 19 S4 with a JB4. I was surprised at how much quicker the M3 is. I haven't launched controlled yet and I'm still under the break in period, but it's a night and day difference. I go for my break in service on Thursday and then I'll really be able to test it out.

I've had a 2009 S4 25Quattro so it's not really a good comparison. However, the M3/4 is a totally different animal than the 2018 Audi S4. It just does everything and anything that has to do with performance much much better. There is a reason you don't see Audi S4's or even RS4's at the track, and even as a relatively new car, you already see G8X's going faster than the previous F8X.
