Coding apps, softwares, scanner, trying to find the best bang for the buck for an N54
Are there and apps or programs either for MAC OR IOS (I don't own android or windows) that can nail out everything that a Foxwell scanner can do, if not more?
I see a lot of suggestions, but some of them don't seem to be able to do the things, or just one of the things I need it to do. I mainly need something that can register/code a battery, reset steering angle sensor, code injectors, basic stuff like that. But I also want something that can run shadow codes and have the ability to do just about any kind of diagnostic, or reset, or coding out errors. Just so I don't spend the money on one, then need to buy another one later down the road if something happens. My description was quite vague, but other than the BMW Foxwell scanners, are there any programs I can use for iPhone or Mac? I hear Carly is good, but can it do the several things I listed above that I need to get done? Carly will run $118, but would you take that over a Foxwell scanner, which would be a good chunk more expensive? Thanks. |

Might be the move right there I see on the App Store Bimmer Code is free, but bimmer link is $35.99 I don't mind paying that, but why is one free but one paid? Oh.. Nevermind. I see that it's $39.99 in app. Do I need to buy bimmerlink as well or bimmercode just to register the battery and recalibrate SAS? |

I'm not seeing anything specifically for recalibrating SAS, which is the main reason I'm buying it other than battery code.
It MAY just need to have the codes cleared though which I'm sure it can do. Had my steering wheel turned super far going up a steep hill. Battery was so bad it needed to be jumped even after like a 5 hour drive if I was trying to start it up immediately. So it stalled out, and it took about 20 seconds for it to finally crank back over at super low power and I got the classic DSC, DBC, amber brake light, and CC fail lights like my alignment was bad. So, gonna hope that it just needs the batt registered and the codes cleared. Regardless, the apps will pay for themselves even after just registering the battery. |
