BMW 320i E90 Black rubber scratches

There is a small, black rubber mat open compartment just before the gear stick to put your Ipod, phone, keys etc.

I notice that it gets easily scratched. I can scratch my finger nail on it or when u put things like keys it producses lot of rubber marks also.

Anyone else had this problem?

What is the best way to maintain that? Can I oil it or something to hide the scratches?

Apply a leather conditioner to the rubber and then it will hide existing scratches and prevent new ones. I did it and it works great, you just have to reapply dressing every 3-4 months.
