2008 335Xi difficulty firing up

Less than 2000 miles, recently I had 2 occasions that the engine having a hard time to start. When I push the button, it took more than 30 sec or more to fire up the engine. At one time the check engine was lit. It went away after I turned off the engine and restart the car again.

Not sure I should bring it in to the dealer or not. I just don’t have the time to take her in. Any suggestions?

Looks like you've got the invitation to the HPFP Club!!!

Sorry, should be HPFPF Club. The last F stands for Failure.

Why don't you just go get your replacement? I wouldn't keep a spare with you, because it's a b and a half to drop the tank on those cars. Let it be covered under warranty.

You've got an HPFP problem man. I just got mine replaced yesterday. Go get yours done as soon as possible.

I agree, get it replaced under warranty although it's my understanding the HPFP is located in front near the injectors not in the fuel tank (see details below). No doubt still a chore to switch out.

Hahah.... I'm just pulling your leg.

I will make appointment to get this done. I hope they will clean and wax my car at the same time. Since I picked her up in Munich in April, i haven't given her a bath. She needs a wax job bad.

2008 335i late production model

Loved my 2006 325i but it was totalled - entirely not my fault. Now fallen in love with a 2008 335i titanium silver and given a very good deal. I'm now concerned after reading about the HPFP issue. Does anyone know if this problem was fixed for the late 2008 production or new 2009? Any fellow Canadian late 2008 owners please respond with your experience. The offer expires EOD September 8. Thanks in advance.

PS. Does anyone have information if BMW already has a handle on the problem?
