M240 recall DME control unit programming
Got a phone call from my dealer a few days ago regarding a recall as per below for my 2018 M240xi:
12 86 19RC PROGRAMMING CONTROL UNITS DME: CORRECTION PROGRAMMED CONTROL UNITS AS PER RECALL In Feb of this year I had a recall for something similar: 12 94 18RC PROGRAM CONTROL UNITS Each reprogramming takes 3 - 4 hrs (assuming the update takes the 1st time). Has anyone else received this recall? Observations: 1. After the Feb update I noticed that the exhaust seemed quieter (e.g. almost non-existent burbles and/or pops when in comfort mode). I recall others noticed a similar change when they had theirs done. 2. After today's update, I was surprised that when in comfort mode (but with the shift lever in sport/drive), I heard loud burbs as the transmission shifted into each successive higher gear and I'm pretty sure it wasn't my imagination as my wife asked me if I had it is sports+ mode. So now it is sounding more like my old 2016 M235xi used to sound.

Mine was done twice as well. First one was supposed to make the engine idle more smoothly when cold according to the service writer, but I didn't really notice an improvement. It took 4 hours at least. The second only took a hour, had no details that the service writers could see, but I find it is smoother when cold. Could just be that it is warmer out now.
