Air Inlet for A/C
My a/c kind of smells so I bought some Ozium spray to spray into the air inlet to freshen everything up but I can't find the air inlet. Can anybody point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.

It's under where your wipers live. You have to lift the hood, remove the rubber weather stripping, and then the plastic cowels to get to it. Don't some sprays instruct you to remove the pollen filer and spray in there? That's under the dash on passenger side, very easy.
You shouldn't be getting the smell though, if the AC performance starts to decline, then the problem could be the evaporator. |

And, if not already doing so, leave the system in AUTO and don't try to fiddle manually other than temperature or occasional need for max AC or Defrost. The AUTO setting includes periodic operations to dry out the innards intended to prevent just such an occurrence of odor.

Air conditioning: An unpleasant smell such as a musty odour 22/06/18 Complaint: In the heating/air conditioning operation, an unpleasant odour (e.g. mouldy odour) can be noticed for a short time in the vehicle. This is particularly apparent immediately after the engine is started when the heating/air-conditioning system is switched on, or after the heating/air-conditioning system is switched off while the vehicle is in motion. Cause This fault is not caused by a defect in the vehicle's heating/air conditioning system. Reimbursement under the warranty is therefore not justified as there is no technical defect. The odour development can be attributed to environmental conditions or the customer's behaviour in the vehicle (e.g. smokers, dogs in the vehicle, rubber floor mats, etc.) during the operating period of the heating/air conditioning system. Even regular driving with air conditioning off or deactivated shortly before the end of the journey can cause the problem. Basic information: Over a relatively long operating period, the heating/air-conditioning system creates the condition for a favourable habitat for bacteria and other micro-organisms due to air humidity being continually condensed at the evaporator. Together with dirt that is introduced via fresh air or even circulated air, this may lead to microbial contamination of the evaporator and, as a result, may lead to a mouldy odour, for example. Changing the microfilter regularly can reduce the intake of contaminants and delay or prevent the occurrence of the aforementioned problem. Exchanging the evaporator does not resolve the problem in the long term, as microbial contamination can build up again. Motor vehicles affected: All series with a air conditioning (IHKR) or IHKA (IHKA) Measure ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Change in version 06: Part numbers for F25 and F26 added. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Changing the microfilter regularly can reduce the intake of dirt and delay or prevent the occurrence of the aforementioned problem. Replacing the evaporator does not resolve the problem permanently, as microbial contamination can build up again. ------------------------------------------- Cleaning with spray lance: The most efficient and long-lasting method for eliminating the mouldy odour in the heating/air conditioning system is to clean the evaporator using a spray lance. With this procedure, the air conditioning cleaner is used to spray a disinfectant directly onto the evaporator at high pressure, thereby rinsing the residue from the evaporator. The air conditioning cleaner is used undiluted. It is not necessary to rinse. Description of the operations: For the following series the detailed description of the work process of the respective REP should be taken: 64 51 001 "Clean evaporator" ---------------------------- Required tools: The spray lances and the spray pistol can be purchased via the "Special Tools" online catalogue in the BMW aftersales portal (ASAP). The air conditioning cleaner can be ordered directly via BMW Group Parts (Electronic Parts Catalogue).
