Falcon Heavy is launching tomorrow!
Very exciting! Not only is it the brawniest rocket in the world, SpaceX will also attempt to land all 3 cores. And they won't all be landing in the same place.

SpaceX rocks. I love how they do their stuff in the public eye, for better or worse. I love too how they're pushing space travel back onto the front pages. In some places anyway.

SpaceX - Really
I love how some launch without responsibility for spacecraft separation regardless if it cost the American tax payer $1B for the payload.
. . Mission Success is usually a high priority in the space business. |

Who provided the payload adapter? Northrop Grumman. If it was a separation issue that caused the loss of Zuma, it's Northrop's responsibility not SpaceX's. Falcon 9 did its job. But lets not throw stones as ULA has come close to failures several times with the valve issue on the Atlas V being the most recent close call. Two seconds before, Centaur would not have had the energy to make up the 1st stages shortfall. |

Watched it live, love this kind of stuff! To funny to see the Tesla Roadster in space with the dummy in the drivers seat...

And watching the 2 boosters come back side by side was thrilling! And I liked the Tesla's infocenter saying "Don't Panic". Hilarious!

That was pretty cool. Especially the landing of the side boosters. I wonder what happened at the drone site. I'm guessing we'll hear soon enough.

I thought the tesla was going to be inside of a capsule rather than just floating out in space with the dummy. Seems to have survived the launch without a scratch. Will have to see what a few years or decades worth of cosmic radiation will do. Do they have solar powered batteries and cameras to beam video back like the voyager craft?

It seems no parts of the car flew off during launch and the dummy stayed intact and in the same position despite the high g-forces. Is everything glued together with industrial strength adhesive? Also, apparently they are playing some music by David Bowie.

Missed the point. The launch customer provided their own payload adapter. Northrop Grumman did not use SpaceX’s payload adapter. If they did use their adapter, then the blame would be on SpaceX. But do explain how Northrop Grumman’s defective adapter is somehow SpaceX’s fault. Anyway that launch and landings was amazing. Shame about the core not making it, but that’s certainly a failure anyone would take on this test flight. It would have been nice to have the core booster to physically inspect to see if everything went according to their simulations, but they will examine the telemetry data to determine that and see why the core didn’t make it. |
