Blue Plug on speakers
How in the hell are you supposed to remove these? None of the Bavsound videos actually show this part. I tried calling them, but of course it's a holiday. I mean how difficult could this shit be right?
After barely doing my center speaker with an uncomfortable amount of force I moved to the rear speakers and absolutely destroyed the blue plugs and can't remove the old speakers now short of rewiring it for something. |

same thing happened to me , I actually used a pair of pliers to hold the blue tab on one of the rear since I was pulling it so hard it was digging into my fingers, It didn't mess the tab up that much, I mean it still clipped in snug and everything but may have rounded the edge of it I know this might not be any help but thats what I did |

I just pulled by the wire, not the blue connector, and they popped right out. Have done that on 4 cars now no issue whatsoever - that's what 40 speakers swapped that way?

On your M235 you pulled by the wires? You know how we're always told not to do that... haha. I mean... it worked for you so I may try it. But my issue with pulling from the wires is IF something does go wrong... what's the solution? I haven't seen any new plugs I can just cut and rewire if something goes terribly wrong. I emailed customer support so maybe they'll have a different suggestion.

I wonder if I can still attempt it this way even though the entire blue casing that shows is completely destroyed.
EDIT: Tried it... no luck. Last edited by sds0918; 01-02-2018 at 10:38 AM.. |

Their stuff is all compatible with bmw obvs so if you jacked up your connector I'm sure they could send you a new one and with a couple of crimp on butt splices you'd be back in the ballgame. Assuming you did this last week you also have the misfortune of picking the worst possible time to get someone on the phone or email to help. Benefit of small company is high touch excellent customer service - drawback is no 24x7 follow the sun call center with people available between Christmas and New Years.

Or another option there's that Ebay guy who sells an adapter to connect aftermarket speakers to bmw wiring, so he has female blue connector (for lack of a better term) with bare wires.
I am sure he could make you up something to fix what you did for short $.

So I talked with them on the phone earlier today. They said I should be able to just pull it out also... lol. They also said that I could just a new connector and rewire it but I'm having trouble finding it on getbmwparts.com, it doesn't seem to be on the list of parts.
Do you have a link for that guy on eBay that sells them? |

VERY cool to get this schematic, thanks. It answers a Q I've had about the issue of reversed polarity in rears, or how to avoid/prevent that. Somebody please check me on this:
From the 'Strangelove' thread came a question about reversed polarity on one of the rear speakers, or if the wiring was somehow miswired. If you look closely at this schematic, you will see that the F20/21/22 rear speakers have the red stripe reversed on the feed to the left rear, and for some reason just the F22 has this reversed on the right (F21/22 use red stripe for neg lead on both). Fronts use the red stripe on the + lead. DK why, but it clears up the question of whether they intentionally reversed polarity. |
