Took my car in for squeaking noise...then informed about recall
I have a 08 e90 335i. Itook the car in to get a squeaking noise from the front checked out. The noise happens at very low speeds. Then they informed that theres a recall on the vehicle because the ac/heater unit has to be reprogrammed...just wondering if any of you guys knows whats up with that....and by the way i was pretty pissed because they didnt give me a bmw loaner car because im under 21. they sent me to enterprise and they gave me a freaken 4runner. i said stick it i have two other cars at home...that was just me venting a little
tia for any information on this recall and the squeaking noise. |

Why does it need reprogramming? Is it a 335i only thing?

I also heard its the sensor rubbing on the rotor and the solution is to clean and chamfer the rear pads. not sure about ac/heater? |

I actually get a squeaking noise right when I sit in my car. I don't know if it is the suspension causing that noise or is it something else (brakes). Not sure if you're experiencing the same situation.

i had that same squeaking problem on my car. it came from the rear right side. i was able to reproduce that same squeaking noise by having my ebrake up, and hopping on one side of the car up and down. First dealer I took it too they ended up cleaning and adjusting the rear pad assemblies b/c they found the rear brake pads flaking and gumming up with dirt (their words on the printout). The noise went away for about a week and then it came back.
I took it to a different dealer and they said the pads were "sticking" and something was wrong with the piston or something where it wouldnt retract all the way, and they had to order a new caliper i believe. They said they ordered the part and it's supposed to come today. I had taken it in this past friday. I've been driving my loaner all weekend so it's been saving me miles on my car. haha. They gave me a AW e92 328XI. Pretty good power after driving it around a couple days. Hopefully I get a call later on today saying my car is ready to pick up. |

Let me know if they get it fixed. Sounds like the same problem I am having. I guess I will take it in to the dealership when I get my oil change and have them look at it. Probably have to do the same thing as you. Keep me updated.

This sounds to be a different issue than the infamous brake squealing from 0-10 MPH. I took my car in about a month ago for that issue, and they were clear on what to d since it's such a common fix now. They replaced the brake sensor and chafer the brakes.

i think we all have the same issue. i first noticed the squeaking noise when i would "plop" into the seat of my car b/c the car would shift ever so slightly and this was all while the ebrake is up. If i just sit in my car and start convulsing and move back and forth, allowing the whole car to move back and forth, i could replicate the sound. Another way to replicate the sound is if you stand on the ledge of one side of the car (depending on where the sound is coming from) and hop up and down it would make that same squeaking noise. All this is with the ebrake up.
Then after heavy use of the breaks i would notice a squeaking noise when traveling at low speeds (less than 15mph) w/out touching the breaks. Sometimes when i would tap the gas a tiny bit causing the weight of the car to shift, i could produce that squeaking noise. If the brakes have not been used and you take the car out to a close destination I will not be able to produce that squeaking noise while driving at slow speeds. However I can still make that squeaking noise if I have the ebrake up and i either plop down on my seat or if i stand in the ledge and hop up and down. As I mentione earlier the first time I brought my car into the dealer they said there was flaking from my break pads and some gumming up, which they cleaned and disassembled. That fix only lasted a week as I had taken my car to bimmerfest and we did a lot of heavy breaking throughout the trip. When I took my car in again to a different dealer this past weekend they ended up ordering a new part (caliper i believe) for my right rear brakes. They said the brakes were "sticking" and they had to replace the part. I'm still waiting for them as I have been driving a loaner since last fri. I don't mind, just as long as they aren't taking my car for a joyride everday. For those of you who may have a similar problem as me, I'll let you guys know what happens after i go pick up my car either today or tomorrow. |

Buddy...it only happens when the brakes are HOT...you don't hear the squealing once they are cold. Why don't you look up the 15 page thread on this topic..a lot of people, including me, have this problem. Tell them to change your brake rotors and pads.
