Inside locking

Is there a way to lock my doors, as I am exiting the car, from inside without having to dig my fob out of my pocket and press the door lock button? Just a little clumsy to have to dig in my pocket for the fob just to be able to lock the doors. 2015 228i M-Sport.

You don't have comfort access I assume? I only ask because lots of people (my father included) have tons of shit in their car they don't know about.

If not I think you can retrofit it although I never really dug into it since I have it.

EDIT: Here it is. Not cheap but doable.

It is now I believe. MSRP went up to include formerly optional premium package. At least on the 235 no idea on 228.

I do not have Comfort Access. Bought this car eight months ago as a CPO from dealer in CA. Only "Must Haves" were: Estoril Blue & Manual Trans. At the time, this was the only car with those requirements that I could find anywhere in the U.S. !! This lock issue is very minor. Just figured if there were a way to lock the car without having to dig the fob out of my pocket, someone here would know how.

Not sure how this would work without comfort access but can't you press the lock button on the dash after you open the door?

1. open door
2. press lock button on dash
3. get out
4. close door

Does it stay locked? I only suggest this because I know I can press the comfort access bit on my handle before all my doors are closed. It will lock the ones closed, then when the last door is closed (say, if I'm carrying a passenger) that door locks and then the car beeps.

The button is on the middle of the dash below the hazard light button.

Yeah it took me a bit to find it the button the first time also.

I would guess - pure speculation - that it's disabled to avoid locking keys in car. Mine if I leave the key in the cup holder and try to lock it via comfort it won't lock.

Yeah it's minor but still annoying. I have found that I find it most annoying when I switch between cars (or have a loaner) and forget what I am doing and cannot unlock the car with my finger. Similar annoyance switching between Audi when we had one and BMW, manual mode shifter operated in reverse on Audi (push forward to upshift).

Pressing the lock button on the dash, with the door open, will not lock the doors. It will, however, unlock the passenger-side door. If you are in the car and the doors are closed and you push the lock button the doors will lock. Seems like this should work, but it does not.

If you?re subscribed to Connected Services, you could download the BMW Connected app and lock it from your phone, which presumably is easier to reach than the fob might be

After you open your door to exit try hitting the lock button on center of dash before you get up

That may do the trick for you.....

I have comfort access......and I do love it......

Any model Toyota will offer this feature, so you have that choice.
