Certainly not common. You would hear about it on forums if it were. Arthur seems like a smart chap, pulling his flaming car into a gas station.

Mismatched wheels - looks like an E46 style 45 on the back, and an E38 style 60 on the front? Makes me wonder how the car has been maintained and treated. That offset would be tight (47) on the back without a spacer, tight enough to rub and cause heat/sparks?

-just got out of the hospital from a heart attack
-got an infection in the arm while in hospital
-car catches on fire
-supposed to drive to see mom who has cancer the next day

it says it is a 2007. That is the year battery terminal connection recall was issued.
