Think this is a good deal for 2016 M235i?
Hey All,
After a long search I found a M235i in the color I wanted with 60% residual. I didn't think its worth leasing M240i with crazy residuals. Below is what the sales guy sent me. Think this is worth it? Cheers. |

No
A leftover RWD 235 that has a 48k MSRP should be close to or under 40k especially with current 1k options allowance before taxes/title Are they serious about a $750 "Document fee"? I would tell them to take a flying leap on the doc fee |

Ask if they still have the 33 month rate for 65% residual.

Thanks, so much man. I am new to the leasing game and BMW for the matter. How much the doc fee should be?
What do you think my lease should be for this with taxes/fees for it? Which they are saying $2500! |

I see. Mine is coming out to $484 before taxes. I have driver assist, heated seats, & Harmon Karden sound system. Also, this is a manual. This is with $2.5K down.
I dug into the math and notice there is about $100 for leasing company/bank. My payments on just the car is about $371 [(Residual - Discounts) / 36 mths]. [($19,208 - $5,841) / 36 = $371]. My brain hurts from all of this. Few week backs the residual was around 50% for this around where I am. Still its a bad deal? I couldn't find it cheaper then this. Tried many lease brokers and dealerships. Sigh. |

I see. Is that a bad thing @bem-s4? Does this make a bad deal?
I can't seem to find a better deal and also this is the color I want. M240 with same option is $150 away from this. I am trying to find out how bad of a deal it is, I guess. |

MF seems high, is that tier one? Mf is interest so it is important. Honestly does not lease that well. Payment looks padded by $25-$30 a month at that mf. I would wait until October 30th and try to get the cap cost down (more off msrp). If that mf is correct than 465-480 2500 drive off would be fair with some more off the msrp. In NY you have to pay the taxes up front, and you can't do msds to lower the mf.

Doc fee is most likely the lease acquisition fee. This is 725 set from bmw on all leases. Dealers can mark it up to 950.

So this was an experience. I did end up getting the car pretty much at the above numbers. It is my first lease and first BMW. Even with jumping on the forms and calling lease brokers I end up with this deal. In the end, I went with my emotions and picked it up because of the color combination. Blue/black with black rims.
I love the car. The above emoji is literarily what I was doing. The M240i had terrible residual and I couldn't get it closer to $500 with 0 Down. @ jrc92024 - Great deal! I did my due diligence but my inexperience with lease and BMW cost me. I think it is worth it. Also, the $2500 went towards taxes & fees so this is technically $0 down, right!? Can't say I regret it. Plus it's going on my company so tax benefits. Thanks everyone for their inputs. This is some solid advice! |

I did get back about $500 after clearing it up with DMV so a little victory. As I said before my first lease and they did take advantage of me. In the end, I did get the car with the color I wanted. @BEM-S4 |

As long as your happy that's all that matters. Those of us who have been around the block a few times just try to provide info - as long as you make an INFORMED decision, whatever that is, and the forum has done its job. Your next one you'll do a better job, and the one after that even better. It's tough if you're looking for something specific that has to be dealer stock bc you want a leftover or whatever. I've bought and sold close to 20 cars just in the past 3 years alone, with experience comes some knowledge.
For example, I put $4k down on my father's sport wagon lease knowing all the things that could go wrong. But I did it bc he wanted the car and wanted his payment to be a certain number, so I was ok potentially losing the money if something went wrong. He's in his late 60s and decided on his way home from chemo one day that he didn't like his 8 month old Audi anymore. At that point the hell with the "smart move" which would have been giving him $ each month bc he never would have taken it. Just do what needs done to make things happen. Like as said as long as you know what you're getting yourself into it's all good. At the very least you had the wisdom to realize you didn't know what you were doing due to lack of experience and sought out some help. That's more than 99% of people do. All that said at this point fuck it, beat the snot out of your car and enjoy it!!!!

Thanks for the comment and sharing that. Again, I learned a lot from this thread. My cheapness lead me to this forum and glad I did. So far folks have been great and its active as hell. Going forward I will know a bit more like comparing residual/MF with other dealerships. Find shorter leases to get better residuals etc. I think having the sales person break down the monthly lease should make it obvious what they are making. They kept going in circles when I try to do that. They lied about taxes stuff which I found out after. This is the most expensive car I ever got into and real loving it. Don't regret a bit. The handling alone makes it so much fun to drive. I do intend to beat the hell out. Again, thanks for all the advice. Will be more mindful (also turn on notifications) of the advice I get. |
