M laptimer malfunction?
I've been to the track this weekend and wanted to measure my laps with the M Laptimer app, but it's been useless, as you can see from attached screenshot it shows me running about totally outside of the track, here you can see the track is pointing completely not in the direction of the track etc.
Why would that be? Is the laptimer app using the iPhone GPS/accelerometers? the iphone wasn't properly held so it could have been measuring wrong acceleration but I was expecting the app to use the car data only (as it does with steering angle, throttle, speed, etc.) Thanks!

Never seen that but need more data.
What model iPhone is it? Does your car have navigation? If so what version, NBT? I always just have the phone unsecured but in the compartment under the armrest.

It's an iPhone 6 plus, car has navigation, NBT, wide screen, HUD, connected drive and all...
Car software has been recently updated by the dealer when installing the performance brakes, not sure about version though |

Odd. I'm pretty sure the app uses the car's GPS because the iPhone only has a 1Hz GPS and the update rate is too slow for such smoothness in the track outlines. I did have some corrupted lap data on Tuesday but I attribute that to the iDrive controller being bumped by the instructor in the passenger seat grabbing for something to hold on to and changing screens.
That doesnt cause your issue though. Wondering if its just spotty GPS coverage at that particular place and time.

OK I think I figured this out, you need to disable the rotation sensor in the iphone, otherwise with the lateral force it thinks I'm changing orientation and replicates that on the track, which is obviously wrong - hence the 90 degrees turns.
I tested on the roads, i'll give it a try on the track next time.
