Whining/hooting noise on clutch release - 1st only
I'm getting an odd intermittent hooting/whining noise when releasing clutch in first. Usually lasts for 1-2 seconds and starts when clutch is almost fully released and lasts after fully released. Only intermittent and does it hot or cold.
Was able to make noise with tech at bmw twice while I was driving. Dropped off car to get fixed and they've apparently tried to drive and replicate but havent been able to. Any thoughts? Release, throwout bearing? |

Are you sure that it's not the diverter valve or waste gate? Is it under hard acceleration?

I assume you're saying it whines intermittently when basically you're trying to get rolling from a stop in 1st gear and it only whines as you're slipping the clutch? If so, i would inspect/change the trans fluid first. It could just be low fluid or you got a lot of metal shavings in there. Ive experienced some weird noises coming from the trans with low/dirty fluid.
