What's my car worth? What should I do? ESS SC? Buy 4 series? Buy 335 e90? e46 m3?
Hey e90 post,
Check it out: https://www.flickr.com/photos/europe...57666544894992 I'm testing the waters a bit as I'm not sure what I want to do with my car. I'm torn because I kinda want the 4 series sedan, an e90 335, or a e46 m3. I'm also torn because I also kinda want to put an ESS SC on my e91 and keep it... Before I make any choices I want to see the ballpark figure of how much my car is worth as I have no idea how to price it as it is all custom. First of all the e91 in a 6 speed manual transmission is hard to find already so I think it makes it more valuable than the run of the mill e91s on the market currently. Second it has an OEM m3 front end conversion. I say OEM because it is equipped with OEM factory m3/e92 xenon headlights (fully programmed, functional, and no errors) and factory e90 m3 fenders. The hood is a Dukes Dynamics Powerdome hood and the front bumper is an polypropylene m3 replica with duct vents. I'm also torn because I did some major work on the car (with receipts) that I should bear fruit from such as a brand new waterpump/thermostat, brand new starter, brand new battery, ofhg, and brand new serpentine belt and idler pulley. Oh and brand new installed ST xi coilovers installed at EAS tuning. Other notes: ZHP 6MT knob Dynavin Navi unit with rear view camera LED interior lights and exterior handle lights Panoramic sunroof folding mirrors black and grey interior What should I do? Any ideas on what pricing this should look like? Oh yeah. CLEAN TITLE. 89k on the odometer. |

If it were me, I would keep the E91 as it's unique/oddity especially being a manual with AWD. But then, I would get a E92 M3. So when you are in foul weather or going somewhere that you don't want to burn a lot of fuel, you have the E91. When you are wanting to drive hard, the M3. my .02.

John 070. I do want to keep the e91. I love it. It's just lacking a little power and I'm not sure if I should spend $5,000 to supercharge it or cash out and sell it and parlay that e91 money and the $5,000 I would have spent to get a different car...
I'm trying to get an idea on what my car is worth. I know damn well it isn't KBB price. The e92 M3 wasn't even a choice for me and still isn't an option for me right now. |

ycehcky: Really? $15,000? Is it really worth that much?
KBB has it at like 7k. I've seen other e91's sell for around 9k or under. It would actually be cool if I could yield 15,000 plus 5,000 (ESS SC money) then i'll have a 20k budget to get into another car... I am really tempted to get the ESS SC, but I'm really worried about smog. The last couple times I did smog it was just a OBD test and sniffer, but if they were to ever pop the hood I would fail visual for sure. And I'm not to fond of paying someone to install/uninstall every 2 years... Any other opinions on what it is actually worth? 2006 e91 325xi 6MT OEM m3 front end conversion with all of the major maintenance done already. |

wagons with manuals may be hard to find....why? because no one wanted one new? sounds like you've made a similar conclusion.
I think you need to find a fellow enthusiast in order to sell it or take a hit....or keep it. |

I am sure it is not "worth" that much, but I would keep it if you can't get close to that for it. Wagons with manual transmission are harder to find. Modifications including the supercharger will not really help your resale value, but you could sell them separately to recoup some of the costs.

Your car is worth what someone is willing to pay. Having said that if you're serious about selling you must advertise where like minded enthusiast are most likely to shop. Bring a trailer . com is a really good site where you're most likely to get the most appreciation and $$'s.

Looking at the prices here:
http://www.cargurus.com/Cars/invento...sModified=true and considering your mods, you should be able to get $12-$15 if you find the right buyer. |

if you still have original parts you'll get more money with a little more effort by putting back to stock, selling car and selling all parts

MuffinMan910: Unfortunately I sold my OEM e90 front end after LTMW did the conversion.
I'm leaning towards keeping it or at least driving it until I get value of all of the maintenance I did (waterpump/thermostat, serp belt/idler pulley, starter, brakes, ofhg) |

If the e90 335i was more reliable, I would definitely get it. But I don't want to enter dangerous waters with the N54.
I do want an e46 m3, but its starting to look dated and its a coupe. 4 series is nice, but I don't really want to get into a car payment... DASC 318ti or m roadster would be nice too in terms of power and exclusivity but they are a bit older than I want... Only if the e90 m3 were in my price range |

If anyone wanted a CLEAN TITLE MANUAL E91,
I would trade for your: 1.) e90 titanium silver 330i, 328i, or 325i 6MT if we swap front ends and you add cash on top... 2.) straight trade for a salvaged e90 m3 or I can add some cash... 3.) Heavily maintained/documented e90 335i and we swap front ends. No cash either way... |

However your car is modded and it is tastefully modded. It has some major mods that would attract other buyers. It may take time but I m sure you could get around 10-13 k for it. You will not get the money you spent on it but you can still get some of it back Now , I would personally keep it and do the supercharger. Just because you have already spent so much money on it and it is a unique car. The M3 conversion must ve cost a fortune Last edited by rick100; 05-03-2016 at 07:21 PM.. |

Yeah the M3 conversion set me back more than I'd have liked to...
Plus all the other knick nacks needed to make everything work, then paint, then programing. The e92/m3 headlights cost quite a penny too as they don't make any aftermarket ones like that... I don't want to spend more for the ESS supercharger and 5k is a LOT to me. Shoot, I could use that 5k to buy a project car on the side...and the supercharger doesn't appreciate in value, it depreciates it due to the new owner having to deal with the smog check. |

It seems like you already made up your mind though.. Modding your car is never about making money out of it , you already spent a lot of money and you have something special nobody else has, if you just want more power then ESS supercharger is an excellent option and your car will be unique like you said it in your first post. But if you are tire of your car, which is what it seems like by your last post, then move on and get a new car. However it seems like you are the type of guy that is not going to be happy with a stock car regardless of what it is , so I m sure you ll dump more money in whatever you buy. Another option is to get a project car |

Anyone looking for a well cared for e91 knows finding a good one is tough, and you're looking at $12k minimum for one that has any decent options, including lights, CA, the professional audio, sport package, etc. I was shopping for mine for no less than 4 months and I paid about that for similar mileage.
There were cheaper ones, but they all had issues, either cosmetic or mechanical. If it's clean and manual I'd say 15, minimum. Just try and find one. They are unicorns. Anyone who says otherwise simply hasn't tried to find one. |

Since that's an option in the Rest Of The World, it should be a feasible project.
