New to Tunes

Hi all,

I never thought of getting a tune until I drove a friend's tuned Miata and now I wonder what it would do to my m235i....it looks like people are speaking highly of the JB4 as opposed to the Dinan. I was looking at a Stage 1 or an E series JB4.
- How easy is it to take it on/off? I assume you have to take it off before you take it to the dealer for work?
- Does it cause any error messages?
- Does it do anything harmful to the car short/long term?

Any other comments/advice would be much appreciated.

Many Thanks!

Why are you looking for an E series JB4 when you have F series car?

- How easy is it to take it on/off? I assume you have to take it off before you take it to the dealer for work?

Stage 1 Jb takes 5- 10 minutes to install / uninstall
JB4 stage 2 takes 30 - 45 minutes

- Does it cause any error messages?

No
The Jb4 will remove any passive codes like the cats ones if you have catless downpipes

Does it do anything harmful to the car short/long term?

No it does not
My 335 has 120k miles and is pushing 3 times stock boost with no issues ... Tens of thousands of happy Jb4 users

I recently switched from a Lexus IS to the M235i and did a lot of research on piggybacks. There are thousands of people with no issues but I think every tune had at least a few issues (read AlexGT's issues with Racechip Ultimate).

I recall there are a couple others with transmission errors using the JB Stage 1 but as it stands, I'm sure there are many thousands of people with no issues. It's impossible to say these chips are the direct reason why some of these errors occur but I personally (being super conservative) have decided I don't want to jeopardize my warranty/maintenance on a lease for a bit more power.

Respect your choice but i have to comment on couple things

A bit more power
stage 1 offers 35 whp and 45 wtq increase
Jb4 + downpipes 50 whp and 130 wtq
Thats a lot more than a bit more power
