Upgrade Options

Dear all,

Good day to you all.
I would like to upgrade for my M235i.

676 HIFI LOUDSPEAKER SYSTEM

This is what I found doing VIN decoder.

I found alpine hifi upgrade and Focal IFBMW-S.

Which one is better to go for?

Thank you.

Best wishes

Focal IFBMW-S is better for two reasons :

1)you have Hifi 676 and your car has'nt base sound

Notice Alpine hi-fi system retrofit kit :

Retrofit kit number 65 41 2 293 994

These installation instructions do not apply to cars with the SA 674/SA 688 (Harman Kardon surround sound system) or the SA 676 (Hi-fi speaker system).

You already have an amp in the trunk so you only have to change speakers.

2) don't know why, this kit does'nt appear in realoem for 235i

With focal or any other kit, you need to change
Emblem Alpine F2X 65132230426 (1 kit for left and right)
Corner moulding, interior right 51332349058
Corner moulding, interior left 51332349059

(Before applying Emblem Alpine)
and these fits very well and are cheaper than harman kardon because HK already went with tweeters inside.

the diy is easy :

my french tuto : http://bmw-one.com/phpbb3/viewtopic.php?f=21&t=34196

i don't use Focal but ETON B100W (german speakers)
http://www.extremeaudio.de/gb/eton-b...n-b-100-w.html

see pics in my tuto, nothing to adapt, nothing to cut.

Thanks for sharing this to me.

Then what about Focal vs HK?

Which one do you think going to work well then?

And, I found Bimmer Tech has Amp too.

Recommend that upgrade?

I have the BimmerTech amp, and like it. Still getting the sound tuned, but even out of the box it's an improvement over the harmon kardon system that came with my car.

If you wanna tune the Bimmer tech, do you have to pull it out and do the tune? Or it's wireless?

Not the same magnets and weight. Try to search pics and i think Focal is better
Don't know for you but in France Focal is cheaper and better sound so updating a car with new HK speakers is'nt a goo idea.

Their amp is a Match PP82DSP with some mods and is adapted for HK option.
You need to ask Bimmer Tech for compatibility with a car with Hifi

For me it's a good but expensive idea but you can't trust Bimmer Tech for adjustments : you don't use same speakers and Bimmertech use F30 adjustment. F30 is a bigger car and had more speakers than F22.

If you get one, you need to ajust yourself the amp with your car with a PC and a Microphon. Not so difficult, software and manuals are free at http://www.audiotec-fischer.de/lng/e...sp.html?type=N

As i have old subs and amp from my older bimmer, i choose his little brother : PP52dsp (now it's 62) but my F22 had european base sound system.

Thanks grave.

I did find out their website and has an option for 676 which should be for hi-fi system.

And, you are right, Bimmer tech isn't cheap!
Or it's pretty damn expensive

I'm thinking to get maybe a Focal ifbmws, which is easier to get in Taiwan, and a HK amp upgrade or Bimmer tech maybe?

Tune with USB, is that mean after I installed, i can use the sub port in car? Or I need to pull the amp out again and do the tune.

Thanks in advance.

You do the tune via a USB cable that you leave connected to the amp with the other end accessible in either the cabin or battery compartment.

Their amp is actually adapted for the HiFi option in the F22, but is also compatible with the hk system.

There's a BimmerTech F22 tune for the HiFi system attached at the end of the first post in this thread: http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1218371

I have grab my laptop and look on mine. You're using a different version of the software, and you've got more channels showing than there were when I opened the file. The file as sent to me had 6 channels total, not 8, and I do remember that Channel F is the sub channel on the software version I'm using (2.93?), not G.

The amp was shipped with direction to use 2.93 and not the newer versions. It didn't say why. I'm guessing it's because 3.28 is a beta and the last "official" release (3.06b) predates a version that addresses errors on the Match amp (3.15b beta release).

Outstanding! Patryk sent me the F22 HiFi last week, and it's pretty bright in the hk setup. I'll look forward to seeing that one!

And don't get me wrong. Even with the F30 tune, the amp was a great improvement over the stock hk setup. Once there's a specific tune for it, I expect it to improve even more.

I took an F30 tune and played with the time delay. Seems ok for now. Looking forward to seeing more v3 tunes, now that v3 is "official". I also have the Focal ifbmw-s, but no idea how to tune the eq myself.

Now you probably don't see the side-to-side distances as being inverted.

That's because you're below the equator, right?

I'm not surprised that it is. F22 Hifi doesn't have Tweeters so when we created the tune for we had to boost a lot of the upper frequencies to get a decent sounding tune.

Trust me it will. As soon as it done i will email it to you and post it here.
