Dash Rattle/Squeak (And Gone When It's Raining)
This is so weird.
I have develiped a rattle when it's cold, it turns into a squeak when it's hot (80+ degrees) and goes away completely when it's raining. I think the fact it goes away when it's raining is a clue. Is it possible under the hood or a body panel that is squeaking and coming in the cabin? I can hit the dash under the glove box or under the rattle and duplicate the sound (unless the car is wet). Any ideas on where to check? It's like "CHIR CHIRP CHIRP CHIRP CHIRP." lol It's driving me nuts |

My climate control fan used to do this on my 06 330i.
If the fan speed was on low I would get an occasional squeak / chirp over bumps or if I hit under the glove box with my hand. Wet or dry didn't matter for mine. There is a but in the center of that fan. I sprayed it with some silicone spray and it stopped. Luckily, the fan is easily accessing from under the hood. You just have to remove the micron air filter at the base of the windshield under the hood to get there. Of course its on the passenger side. You might have to remove the cowl too, but I don't think so. |
