Tall Drivers

Any really tall drivers out there? How tall are you and are you comfortable?

My cousin is a big guy. Maybe 6'4" or so, I'm not really totally sure but he also has a large frame. I let him drive my car and thought he'd be uncomfortable but he said there was plenty of room...I'm sure the backseat was useless though.

I'm 6'4". I fit just fine - ie I can find what I consider an optimal seating position in terms of distance from pedals, steering wheel position, backrest angle, etc.

However - it is super tight. Adjusting the backrest angle, seat position or tilt even slightly will put my (short) hair into occasional contact with the roof.

But as long as nobody moves my seat I'm fine indefinitely.

I have the sunroof BTW (mostly for ease of resale).

6'2" and slim (185 lbs). Extremely comfortable and not full rearward on seat track.

6' 5" here and my legroom is good, way better than my '09 911 cabriolet. I can stretch my left leg out almost straight. I can recline the seat back right up to the wind blocker in the convertible and my seating position is good. Without the blocker the seating position is even better, if you are considering a coupe. My only negative observation is that the windshield height is bit low for me, I am looking out of the top third.

I had this dilemma before I ordered mine. I am 6'-7 240 and got my 2015 without the sunroof. I fit perfect minus the fact that I wish the wheel could telescope out another inch would be nice. But without the sunroof I have plenty of headroom and there is also good leg room.

Tall Fit

6'4", 36" inseam here. Fit is not as good as the '04 325CI I had for eleven years before this 228i, but still OK.

My three tall guy gripes are: 1) the more intrusive center console (somebody just had to have side by side upholders); 2) that the sun visor cannot be pulled back to block sun from driver's side (most of the economy rental cars have this feature); 3) with the seat all the way back I cannot see all of the instruments (even as reduced as they not are) through the smaller wheel.

But by far the worst feature of the car (in my opinion) is the horrible user interface with the computer. I am now a month and 1,000 miles into ownership and hate it so much I have to fight to keep from going to look at a new Golf GTI. Maybe another month and I will get used to being asked to confirm I am an idiot each time I start the car. We'll see. And before you buy, be sure to check out the user interface they have for using the radio.

After eleven years of absolutely loving the 325, wondering about the switch. I love the drive but the computer stuff is ruining the experience for me.

6-3 1/2, 225 lbs, 34 inseam (long-ish torso). The first step I absolutely HAVE to do when shopping for a new car is sit in it. I don't fit in at least half of what I try out. Generally I need at least 38 inches of headroom for it to even be possible for me to fit.

When I read that the 2-series had 41 inches of headroom, I basically jumped for joy. German cars generally work. Seat-wise I do wish it were a little wider, but it works ok.

6' 5", 205 lbs, 34" inseam. No problems.
Don't even have to put the seat back all the way.
Lot's of headroom.
