Just received my JB4, BUT...

For those who have a JB4 Stage 1. The build quality seems pretty poor. The board inside the control box is loose and the entire thing rattles. Is this by design or did I get a broken unit?

It also looks as if I was sent a previously used unit. The control box is all scratched and beaten up. I've sent emails to N54Tuning.com and I am awaiting their response. Not impressed so far...

Here's a pic of my "not so new" new JB4.

Still no response from N54Tuning.com, but I did hear from Jon and BMS. The control box is set up to allow for heat expansion so the loose rattling board is normal. At least I didn't get a defective unit, just a used one

Finally heard back from N54Tuning. His response was that the control boxes sometimes get scratched during shipping. Sounds believable however then condition of mine is beyond what I would consider normal. He tells me it's brand new however I'm not convinced. Don't think I'll be buying any more parts from N54Tuning.com.

Weird.. I've had nothing but great experiences with N54tuning. Did you show Mike the pic? Maybe a misunderstanding somehow

Mike was sent the same pic that I posted above. He still said the part is new and was scratched during shipping. He then kinda changed his story and said the board inside the case is guaranteed new and offered to send me a new box if I was unhappy with the scratched one (you think?) or to send him the unit back and he would have to order a new one from BMS for me.

Anyways, I can't be bothered to deal with people like this. He should have just been honest from the beginning and offered to take it back before I had to call him out on it. Shady business in my opinion...buyers beware.

desmotwin , I also a reseller of BMS products.
Their products always shipped to us without each individual packaging. The boxes is normal to get banged or rubbed around to the other boxes during shipment to us.
So, a scuff mark is normal.
You may want to ask BMS to replace it since it is their product though.

Green environmental packaging, no superfluous material - feel good about your JB4.

No complaints about Racechip on shipping nor cable quality/box unit.
It is beyond quality compared to BMS

Bubble wrap + electronics = bad (static can kill)

JB4 though - 👎

Sorry to see that the board was roughed up during shipping.
Although you are correct JB4 packaging is not the best out there, we never had one single problem with the shipping of a JB4.
You can also get the upgraded aluminum enclosure.

We do offer it.
Unfortunately i cannot post link to my website in this section.
If you cant find it on the website just use the search function of the upper right and search for enclosure.
In all honesty i would not get it, i have sold hundreds of Jb4 and never got any complaint about the box getting damaged

i've had similar experiences with N54tuning, terrible customer service. If you buy $1000+ worth of mod from them, maybe service could be better. If not, don't bother...they don't take much responsibility since they're re sellers. They'll just get you to contact the manufacturer instead. I rather pay for shipping next time instead of dealing with this company again
