Creaking From Front
Hello all, I have been hearing a creaking noise from what seems to be my steering rack. When I turn the wheels especially at either extreme I hear creeping form the steering rack it seems like. I do have 12 mm spacers on the front and so I think that might be the issue.
Anyone else experience this? Should I be worried? I am going to try pulling the spacers off this weekend to see if this is fixed. Also if this is spacer related do you guys think that replacing my stock wheels and spacer combinations with just wider wheels with no spacers? Thanks!

I'm experiencing something similar. While it's been cold out, when starting the car and reversing out of a parking space, if the steering wheel is locked in either direction, there will be a thudding from the front left (driver's side) wheel as if running over something. I've reproduced this in an empty parking lot.
Any ideas? |

I think I experienced the creaking this morning in 5 degree F temps.
Thing is my Michelin PSS have actually been behaving pretty good in these temps. |

I've got winter tires with a tougher compound that I attribute the creaking when turning steering wheel to since it has been -5 all week.

I have ECS 12.5MM spacers front and rear (lowered on Dinan springs) and don't experience any creaking sounds. I don't usually turn my wheels lock-lock standing still but i tried it just to verify - no creaking noises.

Mine is stock. I can hear creaking from the front in very cold weather when turning the wheel. I have heard similar sounds from almost every car I have owned in very cold weather. When backing up/going forward with full steering locks, one front tire will sometimes hop while moving and make a thud noise. I am not concerned. Though I can't say for sure, I fairly confident it has to do with relative wheel tracking differences on tight turns combined with cold tire compound resulting in hopping rather than scrubbing.

Mine was the caps on the front driver side strut. Replaced both yesterday.

Front strut mount cap. I believe they are the front spring strut mounts. Needed to be realigned after. Seems to be doing well, no more noise.
