he apparently doesn't value handling at all,
I've driven a new S4, and the thing has good power and a nice interior, but the handling sucks. That S4 couldn't hold a candle to my 95 M3, or 04 Z4 in the handling department.

Audi's are nose heavy understeering pigs. Great cars if you're not into cornering, I mean I guess they're better than toyotas, but not in the league of BMW

all i'm going to say is that this guy has a very wild imagination! Anyone who compares an S4 to a 328/330 is pretty much an idiot in my book anyways. Big news an S4 is faster then a 328, lol. Try comparing it to its real competitor, the M3.

besides the fact that he thinks the a4 handles better then a 3 series ? what is he smoking.

anyways, thats a very old thread from 2000. Hes comparing the 2000 series models like teh e46, there was no concept of the E90 back then anyways.

That Audi post is from October of 2000. It is out-dated.

hehehe, just what I was thinking... I say we compare the 760 to the A3? Or maybe the Z4 to the AllRoad?

Did you guys notice this guy never owned a car more than one year in the past 10 years? I like audi's style, all wheel drive, turbo. But everyone I know who's owned an Audi had advice me against it, citing later mechanical problems. Perhaps this guy never owned a car long enough to experience the frustrations most Audi owners had, which probably completely erases any advantage the car has over bimmers. Weird car magazines doesn't even try to compare A4 to 330's? I remember all the articles I've read about comparing to the 3 series, and only G35 has ever beaten it. I test drove the G35, and I would never think about buying that over a 3 series unless the few extra thousand is really a factor.

Romeo26, good call on the Toyota. Just traded my 02 Avalon for a 325. Great family car, and fine interstate cruiser, but NO FUN at all.
Never spent a penny on the car except normal maintenance and got very good trade in value. Had my 325 2 days now and it is very exciting. Miss the "cushy" comfort of Avalon, but 325 is such a rush!

Yes, the new M3 is going to be a benchmark for performance.. but that will only last until the B6 S4 arrives with bigger motor up front in 2002.
That sure didnt happen.

Audis are indeed great cars. Go drive a B6 or B7 S4 if you don't believe me. While you are doing that, go drive an A3 with DSG tranny. If you aren't entertained, you can blame me.

The S4 is probably even more fun to drive that my 330i (acceleration and torque are the reason) , but I still bought the 330i. The handling at the limit, as well as better fuel economy and resale value are what convinced me to go BMW this time. I wanted to drive a RWD car for a change, and it doesn't ever snow where I live.

The M3/S4 is really not a good comparison until they come out with the 4 door M3, so this is why they are always comparing the S4/330i. I think that should flatter BMW owners, not enrage them.

I don't think one is better than the other overall. It depends on what you are looking for in a car. I can say that I was appalled that all BMWs don't come with fold down seats and an alarm at this price point! (mine didn't).
