Just checked the Configurator. Build a 230i, then under Options/Convenience Options you can delete the moonroof. But build a M240i, there is no option to delete the moonroof. Hmmm....

I told my dealer that I was not able to configure a 2018 M240 with sunroof delete. They went and checked and informed me that they could order one with sunroof delete. So do dealers have ordering tools not available to the general public? I haven't tried so I don't know if it is true or not.

I just picked up my 230i at Greenville, SC last Wednesday and moonroof was deleted. In the 230i the moonroof is part of the optional M-sport package, and there is the option (as a part of the M-sport option) to delete the moonroof and cut $900 off the price. I think that most of what's in the 230's M-sport package is standard on the 240 rather than an option, so I guess on delete option as a part of the other option?

In the 1 July 2017 Pricing Guide, there WAS the stand-alone ZDM Moonroof Deletion option at NC for the M240i and M240i xDrive. For the 230i, ZDM was a $900 credit (!) if ZMP was also selected. Did those who thought that they had ordered the Moonroof Deletion on their M240i, but ended up with a moonroof, actually verify that ZDM was on their factory order? Maybe the problem is a clueless dealer (not unheard of), or maybe BMW has decided to hose M240i enthusiasts? If the latter, we can then add Moonroof Deletion onto the same no-you-can-not-have-it list as HUD.

This happened with my wife's M240. We did PCD in Greenville on 10/25 and when we got the car it had a moonroof. I confirmed with my dealer that he submitted the moonroof delete (and it is listed on the build sheet). He discovered that BMW somehow dropped the ZDM option right before production. BMW has been great about it and is expediting building another car. Still trying to figure out what to do with the existing car. We paid cash and executed the deal a week before delivery so there wasn't much we could do given PCD except drive it home. BMW would like us to take a loaner until the new car arrives, but I think they will have to buy back her car first.

I'm confused. Did BMW drop ZDM just on your car's production, or dropped from general production? If the former, did they just temporarily run out of long-steel 2-er tops being fed to the production line, so they slapped on a moonroof sheet-metal top? If the latter, how's a reorder going to secure the delete option?
And drexplode: How does someone at port connect back to a production line order in D-land? Just someone with better "connections"? All in all, starting to sound like a strange way to run a business.

Thanks for the details. I was starting to get all spun up since a ZDM 2-er is at the top of my next-dance card. Hope that all this agita gets resolved to your satisfaction.

Is BMW checking to see if people care about this option? I remember them dropping the manual option for the 2 series in 2015 configurator for a week or two, but it was still possible to order with manual w/ a dealer. The option eventually came back to the configurator in that year. Same thing for MP limited slip diff

Bullshit. I ordered my 18 with ZMP in aug, and take delivery in two days at PCD. Tell your crappy dealer - it does exist because the people from the internet said so.

I too ordered my car with the ZDM option, and it has a moonroof. Dealer refunded me $500. The dealer showed me the ordering documentation and it showed ZDM. Then, he showed me the build sheet and there was “Code deleted: ZDM.” Apparently there was a fubar in the factory build system. Hopefully it’s been fixed.
