M Sport brakes and 17 inch wheels

Is it possible to use stock 17 wheels with M Sport brakes? I'd like to upgrade from basic brakes to M sport brakes and have 18 inch summer wheels but 17 inch stock wheels for the winter. Will spacers help?

Thanks

17" wheels should work with M Sport Brakes (340mm). I have used 3 different sets of 17" wheels with both summer and winter tires on my M240i which has M Sport Brakes and they all have worked well.

There was a version of the m sport brakes that may not fit a 17, I think 360mm or 370mm - it was an m-something option, but they named everything so similarly (one is just the bodywork, with normal brakes). I have the BBK with 380's that definitely needs 18s. Use a vin checker to get your specific options, and then call tire rack to be sure.

Your are 100% correct.
To clarify only the m2/3/4 get the larger front hub and rotor (is it 380mm front rotor?? My apologies can’t remember) and they can’t use most 17” (depends on barrel design)

All m235i, including my track edition with the blue mperformance calipers come with (again I may be off on the exact size) is 360mm f / 340mm r.

I run a exx 3 series oem 17” wheel for winter with no issues.

Not exactly; BMW uses very frustrating and redundant naming for different performance packages:
My car has a BBK, not the M2 brakes - stock except the rotor/hat and caliper (and the f#$^&ing backing plates that take about a year to install). Front hub and all hardware is entirely different on M2, DK if M2=M3/4.

m235's can come with either a 340mm or a 370mm brake disc, and I think that the 370's have clearance issues with 17" wheels ("M Performance Brakes" ?). Here's an aftermarket parts link that shows both sizes https://www.pelicanparts.com/catalog..._pg1.htm#item1

This is correct info. To really dumb it down, grey brakes lots of 17s work, blue brakes some 17s work, red / yellow / orange no 17s work.
